Mark your Calendars - Wheeling and AAT, Father's Day Weekend!

Automating tranny (obviously) is slow to shift. Check engine light's been on for months. Code reads bad shift solenoid and torque converter. I haven't had time to deal with it.

How long do you think the trail maintenance will be. Is it all all day thing or just a few hours. I don't know about camping and wheeling but I should be able to do the trail maintenance which is the important part. I have a bunch of tools as well. 3-4 chainsaws loopers machetes rakes shovels etc. My jeep won't be done by then but I have a 4x4 ranger that I would bring if it is allowed. I would also like to bring my 6 year old. He rolls with me everywhere and he likes to work and help. Never done trail maintenance before but since it's fathers day spending time outdoors with my kid would be fun.

Duration depends on how many people show. I doubt it would go past 5:00 - 6:00 if we're understaffed. If we have big turnout we could knock off by 3:00.

In order to operate a chainsaw in the Adopt A Trail program you have to have a Sawyer card issued by the USFS. This is due to insurance/liability reasons.

You can drive whatever vehicle that will get you and whatever tools you want to bring on the workday. Your Ranger will be perfectly fine and welcome.

You can put in as many or as few hours as you want. We are volunteers.

Hope you can make it out.

Cool I'm only about 20 min from there. If there is anyone who has the Sawyer card I would be more than happy to bring the c.s.. I don't see any reason I can't make it. Unless I have to work o.t. On that day. So far so good. I hope on meeting some new people there and perhaps make some new friends. Nobody answered my question about bringing my son with me. Is it ok? I just don't want to break any rules or put a liability issue on the club.

I'll have my four year old son. Think than answers it.

Bringing your son is perfectly fine.

I am certified and will have my saw with if it is needed.

Why do we need a chain s. cert? I collect firewood each year and use the cs for days at a time.
I love cutting/sawing/laying/throwing logs. That is a huge reason I wanted to attend. Do I just need to buy a chain saw cert?

Why do we need a chain s. cert?

Because when you are doing Adopt-A-Trail work you are an employee of the federal government. They do not want you to use a chainsaw unless they know you know what you're doing enough not to set the blade on your leg and start it.

Do I just need to buy a chain saw cert?

No. I believe to start with you have to be first aid and/or CPR certified (I may be wrong on that) then you have a multi-hour class to take. It's a true certification. Stephan can give you more details as he is certified. One of these days I would like to become certified myself so we have at least two cutters in the club.

That said even if you were a certified cutter we don't have any work on the agenda for the 15th that requires a chainsaw.

Unfortunate my schedule got changed so I'm out. My mom is moving and needs help. Hopefully sometime in the very near future I will be able to participate.

Calendar is MARKED!!!!! and aint no way in hell im going to spend my fathers day cleaning a trail, the standard was set on mothers day, besides, any body smart would have scheduled the clean up for a NON family related day.... just my $.02
