Lyda Camp, OR Sept 8th-11th

I'll try to make it. Of course, we've all heard that before...
The Jeep is fully operational now, so there's no reason I shouldn't be able to make it up for at least a day. - B

If you are camping, please no kids.
Remind me to never EVER invite you to a camp of mine....Anyone this selfish, concided or rude is someone I NEVER want to hangout with EVER.
I really hope no one shows up and the only thing you have for your potluck dinner is your own tiny little BBQ weiners.

Who the Fawk are you to tell me I can't bring my kids camping?
What a looser!

You need to understand what the camping trip is all about... most of ROR's camping trips are kid and family friendly... Raven has her own kids. They like to have the occasional "adults only" camping trip so they can let loose without exposing the children to all the drunken stupidity(while in camp). Not to mention, they can get a little crazier on the trails without having to worry about the safety of kids standing on the sidelines or riding along. This seems to be a more responsible way to go. This is one trip out 50 where it's preferred that kids don't come along.

Then they need to post this in the original post. Personally I think its stupid not to allow kids on any trail. I take mine with me on the worst of the worst. If it gets too bad...they get out with mom.

When you post something up that just says "everybody welcome" then put "don't bring kids" it doesn't make any sence. If you are having an adults only wheeling trip thats cool....Just make sure thats the image you want to put across.

Nothing too personal dude, but you guys really need to chill on the name calling and character judgements. This forum is no different than any other - there's a high likelyhood that a lack of information or inability to convey context without hearing the tone of a voice are the reason we're not understanding something fully. What may seem offensive at first, may look a little different if you allow the person to respond to a simple question, rather than an attack.

Interesting out take on this. If you had taken the time to to investigate any runs put on by our group - you will see pictures of kids; riding, walking, even driving. However - you could look no futher than the end of your nose. It was not posted not to bring kids on the run - it was posted that they should not be there during the camping ie. evenings. As Brendon politely put it - this is the ONE run a year that we let loose and enjoy our evenings - so we do not want to have to worry about the kids in addition to watching out for the typical over-indulged guy.
With the immediate additude that you have - I don't think you would be very comfortable with our laid back group - you see - we get to know people before we judge them.

Or maybe you (or who posted the thread) should be more carfull how you word things before it gets posted up.
The way the original post was worded was rude and offensive.

Please explain how I was rude and offensive when I stated very little to begin with - which seems to have started this whole problem to begin with.

I take offence to anyone telling me that everyone is welcome but don't bring my kids along.
If you want to have a trip where you want to get a little wild and you don't want kids there thats cool...I totally understand.
But to just say don't bring your kids...I (and others too...I have talked to them) look at that as "we dont your kids because they annoy us"

It stems from this thread I think...Kids and wheelin thread

Just be more clear...Please and those of us who take our kids wheeling on EVERY trip we go on won't take offence.

I guess a comma or period was brought up after you dropped out of school huh?

I'm not slow but damn....that was really hard to read!

Posting something that caused you to read something into a statement - is not being rude and offensive. Jumping all over someone else is.
It is ANYONE's right to have a run or event and chose to not have children there - for whatever reason. It is also anyone's right to be upset that they have been asked to not bring their children. However - it is NO ONE's right to insult or belittle someone for allowing an open invitation to an event that requests no children while camping.

Chances are - If I had posted no liquor instead of children - you wouldn't have thought twice about it - even though it is important to some people. But those individuals would either come without the alcohol or just stay home - not make a spectacle of themselves.

Your type of immediate insults and badgering is the reason that people in this sport receive such a bad name for behavior.

You are totally right...Its your right to run an event without children..I just think you should have posted up the reason why. Lots of people took that totally the wrong way, not just me. I would never hold it against you if you didn't want children there because you want to be responcable thing and keep children away from an environment that wasn't children friendly. I just think you should have posted the reason why...Not just....If you are camping don't bring children.

When one receives an invitation - they do not ask why - they simply accept or decline - or have you forgotten your manners?

Honestly - if the users of this forum
Lots of people took that totally the wrong way, not just me
wish to be so rude and offensive - I would rather retract this invitation to join us at all.

The first post to this forum was inviting strangers to wheel and camp with us and we were immediately attacked. Not sure what this has to say about the forum in general - but it speaks volumes for you.

Out of the thirteen different forums that this invitation is posted to YOU SIR are the only one who has had an issue.

Maybe I am the only one who cares about his family enough to take the time to respond to it. Trust me...Im not the only one who thought it was weird that you didn't want kids there.

I too thought this was somewhat odd. Having seen the explination (not in the invite post), I understand, and agree. The campfire, at times, (especially a MWC campfire:gag: ) is not the best place for children. However, I would suggest being more through in future invites to avoid any conflicts. JMHO
