Here is the short - my cell phone is dead and will not recharge, my house phones are somehow inop (nobody can hear me) and I have stinky water coming out of bottom of hubz XJ! I dunno what to do and cant remember anyones phone to call them.

Erik, Matt, Ian and anyone else who remembers GIJOHN - His Jeep is the one in need right now and I dont know what to do.

The water is rusted and smells almost like it has a touch of anitfreeze to it, althought it is mostly clear. I had the Jeep running for a good hour and drove less than 1 mile to p/u daughter at school. Left it running for half an hour after that, then I turned off and thats when I smelled the "wonderful aroma" pouring out of the most bottom located pulley and not coming from the radiator.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Mrs Ski (GI JOHNS wife)

if i was closer i would come look at it.

from what you describe it almost sounds like you've dumped the contents of the radiator into the oil pan somehow.

not good.

engine rebuild time

More and likely the water pump. Ill have time sunday to come look at it for you, if you'd like. If its rusty, is it a possibility that John maybe of left water, and no coolant in the system? IF so, there may be more problems.

Let me know if you need a hand.

WWWWAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Dern it! I had water pump issues before with another vehicle - um funny thing is I JUST TALKED TO JOHN this morning - he woke me at 530am:wow: .

I can get you a pass Eli, unless you already have a pass. you will need to just email me or send me a pm and we can work out the details. My house phone is under Vonage and cell is dead for now. Email me anytime and hopefully I will be able to cook ya'll who come over some of my potato soup or have some steaks and grilled marinated chicken ?

Sound like a deal - I sure would appreciated anyone elses input!

Thanks Again

Oh the perils of an army wife without hubz:looney:

I am going crazy now - anyone is more than welcome to join me - :helpme:

I agree with Eli that it is most likely the water pump. If you need a vehicle to drive, let me know. I have a spare Suburban that you could use until the XJ is fixed.

If Eli needs a hand, my military ID is good 'til next month. I can bring him on if it helps. Like John said, if you're short a vehicle, let me know. You can borrow my 2000 XJ.

Also, it sounds like a simple enough fix. Wingnut must not know that oil and water are cloudy when mixed, not clear. John and Eli sound right. Luckily, waterpumps are typically a nice and cheap fix. :)

I don't believe you and I have met, but I met John a time or two before he left to Iraq. Don't stress him out any more than necessary, we'll take are of it one way or another.

Just got your pm. I haven't been on in a while and I was in the field all week.

I'll try and stop by tomorrow between dealing with my "kids".

John90XJ, Mud1059 - THANKS SOO MUCH for offering me a spare ride! Although its really tempting to ride a different and much newer 4x4, I do have my own ZJ and my Dodge Stratus to fall back on - THANK GOD!

If any of you folks wanna stop by - Just give me a quick pm before you leave with an idea of ETA and I will be sure to be home. The only reason to leave my house is to feed my horse Lucky and come right back home. Then lil squirt has a play date sometime tommorrow with a friend around the corner from our house - so should work out either way.

SOUPS ON!

WOO HOOOO

I DID IT! I had to do a power cycle/power boost to the phone and internet system and it worked - so please call my house and cell is still dead. Thanks again and soups on for whoever is in need for some homemade cooking! Thanks Again

Ahhh the usual get together when hubz Jeep gets worked on - almost had the water pump on and they found a metal hose with stripped threads - sigh. I forgot to remind Trscobra (Erik) and CanMan (Eli) that whenever my hub worked on his XJ, one thing couldn't just get completed - it always led to another "project" OR 'okay, while I'm here......' thing.

But, the fan shroud is now on my ZJ. After they had to trim the the bottom of it since the fan was hitting the shroud a lil bit.

Should be able to get hubz XJ finished on Wed. I'll send an update then and leave the next reply for Eli and Erik to fill in.

Cheers

THANKS AGAIN GUYS!:worship:
