Lucas Power Steering Stop Leak??

Anyone ever use this stuff with success? I have a pretty bad power steering leak in the F150 and im looking for options to get me by until I can afford to have the time to put a new pump in. According to the review I have read, it seems to work. It conditions and swells the seals around the pump to stop the leak. Just wondering if its worth the 10 bux at Checker Auto.

Any suggestions would be grateful. :eeks1:

Oh, and I finally fixed something! The CEL was on in the f150 when bought it (which is why i was able to talk the guy down)... Turned out it was the o2 sensor behind the cat after reading the codes. Picked up a new one for fifty bux at advance today and with the help of Chris letting me borrow a wrench, it was fixed! no more CEL.

Quite a relief after dicking around with my XJ for the last 3 weeks trying to get it running right again and failing. Still has the CYL 1 misfire code.

Stop leak products should only be used in an emergency - get it home - kind of situation........ in my opinion.

Think of it this way...... If the stop leak contains good things for the seals and whatnot...... why isn't that same good stuff in the P/S fluid in the first place?

To stop the leak, it's ingredients turn into goo........ plain and simple. Goo fills the small openings where the leak is. Do you really want that crap gooing up the internals of whatever it is that's leaking?

I shoulda taken pics of that radiator/t-stat neck/water pump I pulled off a fixer a while back. Coated in copper colored tacky varnish crap...... coated the hoses, pump impeller, and the t-stat was completely stopped up.......

I say :nono:

ya i had a trail fix where i had a good leak and it certainly sealed the leak but after taking everything apart for my hydro assist the fluid was a murky blook colored mess... really viscous too... worked for a while though
