Hey gang,

I am getting ready to start looking for axles for my 2000 XJ. I am looking for a high pinion D30 for the front and a Dana 44 for the rear.

If anyone has anything coming availabel in the next month or so, please let me know.

Thanks,

Robert

Robert,

I'll be hitting a junk yard or two this weekend. Would you consider a non-xj axle? Costs end up being about the same in the long run...

BTW A certain MJ owner has a D44 under their MJ that is going to be getting replaced sometime soon with something else, you may want to make a post on socalxj asking them to come forward with it. :laugh3:

I want to thank everyone for their input. I have made up my mind as to what I ma going to do. Some of you may not agree, but that's OK. So here it is:

Keep my 8.25 rear and add at least gears and lockers (maybe axle shafts)

Replace the front with a high pinion D30, gears & lock-rite (?) (maybe shafts)

I plan on running 4.56 gears./ Not exactly sure what locker yet. Still talking to people.

I hope to get my front axle this month and then get to the gears in late June or early July.

I have a few other plans and work to do on it first: replace leafs, add an inch, SYE, and maybe new shocks. I have to fix and rear diff and exhaust leak compliments of Holcomb Creek.

Thanks,
Robert

I dont think thats the worst idea in the world. You can wheel the 8.25 just as well as you could with a D44, the only drawback is that you are limited at 4.56 gearing, which is really kind low, 4.88 would be ideal for 32" or 33". Also you get hurt in the locker department, but the good news is you can get a detroit in the rear, which is all you'll ever need. Detroit is the end all be all in my book as far as rear lockers are concerned.

try the auto insurance auctions they might have somthing that you can use there
