I need to pick something as close to the middle between highlands ranch and longmont as possible, and since I pretty rarely go north of arapahoe I have no idea what's up there short of just looking at a map and guessing blind. Anyone have any ideas of decent and not terribly overpriced areas sort of like maybe broomfield and westminster?
I seriously have zero clue where to even start.

Boomfiled is niice, if you want suburbia. (not the sort of place I want to be) Over all, It's the sort of place where they'll give you a hard time if you don't keep your lawn resonable or if you have a torn up Jeep in your driveway. There seems to be two parts really. The 'older' areas that were built in the 80's and the new developments where they give the houses tiny yards.

The older areas, most of the folks have lived there a good while and a good number of them in the area I lived in had modded cars or Jeeps or Motorcycles, but I was still encouraged to work on my Jeep in the garage and -not- start it up after 9 pm with no exhaust on it.

Thornton looks to be largly the same sort of area, except that Broomfiled is also it's own county. It seems like a small thing but the DMV was never busy and the people nice. It's also worth noting that in the long run, Broomfield will have higher property values because the city/county board intends to keep 40% of the land area as open space.

Golden is Boulder's slum..or so I'm told. You get a lot more house for the money in other municipalities...except Boulder. We're here now and loving the proximity to everything.

thanks!

I live in suburbia now and hate it, 5,000 sq ft lots, one tree about 1" in diameter in the same spot in every yard, no shade, boring, bland, etc etc. but character costs money and I gots little :o

golden is very do-able I think, but how's the drive to longmont in the winter?

5 years ago I'd pick up and move across the country, now I'm sweating moving across town, wtf? lol.

I didn't mention it, but I live in castle rock.

That is sweet, looks close to Golden Gate Canyon...sort of.

The zip code 80403 covers a huge area, almost to Rollinsville. Try mapquesting some of these addys.

The handfull of times I've driven to Longmont from here it took aobut 40 minutes with good roads and light traffic. I took Highway 93, Foothills Pky, and the "Diagonal". My landlord takes the same route for his commute. I'll ask him about winter driving.

jeeze I can't wait to get out of this neighborhood.
the latest neighborhood kid trick is they've thrown rocks at my sat dish and knocked the alignment off, in the past they've thrown rocks at my metal garage door, scratched my audi with their bike, and generally fizucked up everything left outside the confines of my house.
any ideas for dealing with unmanaged, unsupervised, jerk kids? talking to the parents gets me nowhere.

I talked to my landlord, his commute takes about 45 minutes using the route I outlined...if he leaves by 6:15 AM. The roads are always passable in the AM.

He said getting home is a crapshoot because of the traffic.

I've been happy in Thornton. Pretty convenient. Not too costly. Adams county is really high in foreclosures so you could probably find a good deal. My house/neighborhood (east side of Colo blvd & 108th) is about 20 years old. 8500ish square foot lots. The kids in my 'hood are fairly well behaved and I can work on my stuff in the driveway/street without any hassle.

Golden would be a great place to live but I wouldn't live there if I had to drive 93 to Longmont every day during the winter. No way.
I dunno, how bad could it be?
I really have no clue.

I'm desperate to get out of suburbia and would sure love something with something other than more houses around it.

Berthoud

That's where I was looking at when I was planing the move here. Ended up renting a room from a friend in Broomfield, then moving to Conifer.

Conifer > Broomfield

How close are you trying to stay to, say LoDo. Just for reference, not to say you want to go down there on the regular. Or do you?
