Looking for a dana 30 hp

I'm in the carson city/ minden/ reno nv area and i was wondering if any one has a dana 30 hp from a 97 - 99 with 3.55 gears they would like to sell. I have a dana 30 lp and i would like change to a hp. I think the axles form an lp work with an hp, right?

I don't have one but did the same swap. Your shafts will work just fine. You can also use your newer calipers, rotors, and unit bearings. Although they all must be from the same vintage.

I found a cheep dana 30 with the disco. If i converted it to a non disco is it as strong.

You really only need the housing and R&P, everything else from your LP will bolt on over

I've heard the disco axle is stronger because of the casting, I've also heard that it is weaker because the tube on the disco is two piece with the casting in between. I personaly believe the non disco is the best way to go. I wont run a disco axle. So, take it for what it is worth.

i would run a non disco and truss it. you should be able to get a free or dirt cheap housing via naxja or clist

What about the knuckles? Those are welded(right) and out of my ability level. I was hoping for a complete one so I could use my lp stuff for spares, but if i can find a housing with the knuckles...

the inner knuckles (C's) are pressed or welded on. the outer knuckles (that turn) are removable.

How do i tell the gearing once i have the housing open. i got a very cheap dana 30 hp with a spartan locker. So do i count the teeth on one count the teeth on the other and divide?
