longfields for a dana 30 ???

what aboutgettin one of the jk rubi 44s from chrysler, 4.10s elec locker all for $1400 i think

They are a lot more now and there is the width difference and lug pattern difference to work with. Also the fronts are not "true" D-44's.

I have built my D-30 over time(locked, re-geared, trussed, 760x with welded caps, etc.) like most on here do and its as good as I can get it on stock shafts. I'm at a crossroad, do I ditch the D-30 that I already have a few hundred bucks in and a bunch of my time(I set up my own gears) or do I go one step further with the shafts?

In my case I have not had any dependability issues with the D-30 on 32's but now I'm on 35's and i worry a little more about the shafts but not so much the R&P and carrier. I've decided to polish the turd to a brilliant shine and see what happens!

If it doesn't work out I'll drop down to 33's or go up to a D-44, only time will tell.

I most likely will bust the R&P before I fubar the Longfields so I can always sell the shafts if i go another route.

So you'll dump 1000 in new wheels(5x5), new brackets(and possibly having someone weld them on), wheel spacers for the rear(or narrowing the front), different yoke or DS, ect..

why would he need new wheels? adapters would suffice. plus then its a HP44 with 32 spline shafts, 4.10 gears and an electric locker IIRC. but yes they went up in price. i think all that is worth a little cutting and welding. as for longfields for a D30, i also think that the money can be spent better elsewhere, even something else for the 30 maybe. a built 30 is pretty stout.

I wheel the piss out of my stock LP30 w/35's and I have had no issues with shafts or joints!!!! It is all about technique & skill!!! If you are bustin your 30 all the time you need to change your wheelin habits!! A built 30 and some good wheelin skill will net you years of good service!! Unless of course you step up to 37" or larger tires!!:rtm:

Thats good to hear!!! Do you think the longevity of your D-30 could be in part due to the TrueTrac, its a little easier on the shafts than my Aussie will be!
