With the open diff, even when my jeep had one wheel on pavemnet and one on grass. the wheell on the grass spun freely and the one on the pavement stayed unmoved.

will these lsd stop that?

I think tire size will play a big factor in this. I feel that if you are running smaller tires then the lsd will be more affective because it gains some mechanical advantage. There is also a big difference between the trac lock and a Auburn style LSD. Trac locks do not have spring loaded clutches therefore is not as agressive. As for your situation, any lsd will help the "one tire fire" syndrome
