hey i want to build a light bar on my roof rack just dont know the best way to get the wires threw the roof or into the interior if anyone has any pictures or able to tell me how they did it would be grately appreciated

i straight up drilled a hole in the roof next to the factory rails and punched through the headliner back when i was a super noob. ran it down behind the plastic of the seatbelt and down to the dash and firewall. sealed it with a perfect fitting gommet and silicon sealant. never leaked. another cleaner looking option is to drill the hole under the factory rail. theres also always the option of running the wiring back to the hatch so you dont have to drill

just watch though because the longer you make the supply lines, especially if its a higher gauge wire, your lights wont get enough power to have their usual output. it happened to me: my 130w 6x9s on my bumper were brighter than my roofmounted 150w daylighters

I'm going to try and finish my install up this weekend. I got a pack of assorted grommets at Advance and one of them is sealed so I can feed the wires through it and just have a small hole to seal up. I'll drill through the roof next to the roof rack rail on passanger side front, then remove the headliner and run the wire (hot wire only) down the A pillar and through the fire wall and out to my relays. The ground wire will be grounded under the headliner. Just a tip for everyone, the shorter you can keep the grounds the better they are. :skull2:

i drilled a hole, ran my wires under my head liner to my over head console where the switches are mounted. the power is fed from the relays through a fire wall gromit and up the A piller under the plastic. the hole in the roof is sealed with "Great stuff" been leak free for well over a year now :D

I drilled the hole and then used sealant and a grommet, + wires go to switches on center console and then to the battery with a fuse for each of the three light circuits.

Ground is a short wire from rack to roof rail, I will install a larger ground later once I add more lights to the rack.

i drilled a hole in the roof behind where one of the rack posts, the things that run to the rain gutter that hold up your rack. then i used a gromlet and silicone,i also used a four prong tailer pig tail in line so that if i want to take the lights off i dont have to pull all the wires, it works real slick.

A similar thread is going on in the JeepSpeed Prerunner Forum right now. I'll be using the method Skullver has pictured here:

It's water tight and can be easily removed and capped when you want to run without your roof rack and/or light bar.

I like this kind of set up the wires and lights can be a real PIA to clean snow from.
My bar is and old strap type roof rack that can be removed in a few min. The wire are just run throu a open window.
