I am wanting to get the 1 3/4" lift from 4wd hardware. I need to know which differential I have, Dana or Chrysler. I have a 2000 XJ Sport Auto.

Also, with the 1 3/4" lift, what is the biggest tires that will fit without rubbing?

Thanks

More than likely you have a Chrysler 8.25 unless you ABS brakes. The 8.25 is flat on the bottom and a Dana 35 is round.

I have no experiance with a 1 3/4" lift but don't think you will want to go much bigger than stock, but it all depends on what you are going to do. Are you going to wheel it with the sway bar disconnected or are just looking for a bigger look for the mall?

With the 1 3/4" lift(Budget Boost) you can fit 30x10.5 on stock rims with no rubbing and plenty of room to flex. Some people say you can run 31's on that lift but that is only if you drive in the street and never 'wheel it. You can run the 30's on stock(although some newer models give less tire clearance) but the lift is not a bad idea for extra room. Basically, you can't fit bigger tires(31") untill you lift at least 3 inches.

i ran 30's with that lift and rubbed when flexed with sway bars still connected. Basically any tire size will rub on an xj, but 31's will be too much for that lift IMHO. get some aggresive 30's and save for some good stuff like RE lifts and lockers. welcome to the money pit :wave1:

I'm just going for a bigger look. I don't do that much offroading. I know, shame on me. I just want to be able to get some tires that are bigger than 235/75/15s.

oh and tires with no trimming 30's minor trimming 31's major trimimg and wheel well mods well just about as big as you want, depending on how much you want to hack up your jeep..........I bet you could fit 44's...just take out the rear side windows completely cut off your rear and front fenders....make new wheel wells if you want... : )

If you are just going for the bigger look and don't go off road much(don't worry, neither do I), then I would recommend a cheaper 3 inch lift(new coils and Full Lenght AAL) and 31's. I don't think you will notice much difference from stock with a 1 3/4 lift if you just look at it.

This XJ has Skyjacker 3 inch and 31" BFG's. The back wheel is drooped so it sits lower than that, sorry I don't have any pics on flat land.

Will the 265/70/15s work? Here's the numbers for Dueler Revo's.

265/70SR15
Section Width: 10.6"
Tread Width: 7.8"
Diameter: 29.6"

30X9.5R15
Section Width: 9.9"
Tread Width: 7.3"
Diameter: 29.6"

I really like the look of your XJ, but $$$ is tight right now and I'm not a very patient person.

Thanks, but it's not mine, it's my friends xj, I basically have been walking him through how to get into off roading. You can get that look for cheap. His lift was $$$ because he got new leaves and arms. You can get a cheapo off brand(look on ebay) lift, one with out new control arms and add a leaves(AAL). If you get AAL, be sure to try to get full lenght not the short ones, they will just stiffen up your ride and then sag. Like I said, look en ebay, there are plenty of 3 inch budget lifts for $180-300 range. It is a little more expensive than the 2 inch BB, but in the long run, it is cheaper.

Good Luck

Thanks for all the advice. It sure takes alot of the worry out of trying to figure out what the best way to go is.
Thanks for the help.

If your tight on money now, don't do it until you are not. What those "budget boosts" don't tell you need or give you are a longer rear brake line ($18.00), longer shocks ($120.00), and adjustable trac bar ($100.00). Also, say you lift it and get rear driveline vibes and shims don't take it away and you need a slip yoke eliminator. That's at least another $340.00 dollars for the RE hack-n-tap and driveshaft (this is the cheapest). Hopefully you won't need the SYE but the shocks and brake line are a must. The adjustable tracbar you COULD go with out but your front axle will be shifted off to one side more than the other.
