Lift Party?

Ok here's the deal. I acquired an 88XJ 4.0/auto 165K for $50. Yep $50. I have been too timid with the stock 2K-XJ and this one well, it's $50. The good, it runs, the bad well the front axle lower control arm mount is mashed and the left front fender had bodywork by a couple of drunken Irishmen.

I would like to use the Hollister trip as a shake down for this new to me XJ but could use some help to get it ready. A Lift Party in San Francisco not sure of the date, but before Hollister and not 2/25 due to land use meeting in Ukiah.

Here's what I have to install at the party:

D30 front non-disco (used) ratio unknown
OME 2" Coils & Leaves (used)
RE Adjustable uca's (used)
Frt coil spacers (used)
2* & 4* shims (used)
Chry 8.25" (used) it was cheap and IMO an upgrade from a D35 ratio unknown
bumpstops (used)
Stock LCAs (used but less miles)
OME Shocks (new)
OME Stabilizer (new)
ORGS adj Trac-bar (new)
Frt YJ Brake lines (new)
Rear YJ Brake line (new)

Still need:
Frt axle UCA bushings (new)
U-bolts. (new)

Other dodads:
Cold Beer (new)
Fuel tank skid (used)
saws-all blades (trimming too)
Chry 8.25 tru-trac (used) However it's for a 29 spline & the rear axle is a 27 spline.
more cold beer (new)
C4x4 Frt tow hook brakets (new)
C-Rok P/S Box brace (new)
RE HD Drag link (used) need new tie rod ends.

My dad's a TV repairman and has an awesome set of tools. Mary may have a Saturday off and maybe can be sweet talked into running a BBQ. Actually I have a compressor and some air tools, also 3/8, 1/2 & some 3/4" drive tools. No torch or heat available.

Am I missing anything? SYE? What's a good date? Any used but good parts you want to part with?

Thanks.
Tom

do your unknown ratio d30 and unknown ratio C8.25 have matching gear ratios?

cuse that is kinda importiant...

Ill be available the 12th (sunday) if that works for everyone else...

do you have a jack and jackstands?

are the TJ and XJ UCA's the same, I have a few I could give you, almost new!
or you could press out the bushings PITA but it would work.
I don't think I can get away for a lift party I got 2 kids under 3 years old so I don't get out much, but let me know if you want them I will look for them and send them with Jes when he brings the TTC head down to SJ.

First off you cant just give your kids away. Second you should at least know where they are.

Sorry I thought most would have understood that I was only kidding, and would never let Jes drive my kids anywhere!

But if you want the UCA's let me know

Where is it ?

If you need help from a very unexperienced person - I am willing to help.

Weekends are ok.

ive got some 1.5' steel lift blocks from rocky road if you want them, also some aal shorty helpers, if you want to match your spacers in the front. the aal are very thick and should add about 2''. I have never used them. just a bunch of cheap stuff i bought on ebay and never used. let me know if you want them. i would come up and help but i have my own bag of worms to deal with. ill send em free of charge.

I've got some 3.73's and 4.10 D-30 gears at my place if you need to swap ratios.

I've got the matching 27 spline 8.25 with 4.10 gears and spare shafts sitting in my garage. Hell I even think the brakes are good if your looking for a cheap gear upgrade. PM me.

Jeff

You have a gas tank skid or you need one? I have a brand new pre-97 Rusty's Skid. PM me if interested.

ive got some extra set of RE 4.5 springs layin around, a couple tall cans maybe? thats prolly higher than what u wanted tho

o, leaf springs

Thanks for all the offers. Lift Party will be Saturday March 4th.

A goal on this project is to use as many used parts as possible and you all had some nice offers.

XJ_Ranger: I am cleaning the axles and pulling the covers to count the teeth tomorrow. If I can get March 2-3 off I'll let you know.

Letterman: Thank you for the offer. I have RE Adjustable UCAs I got from Jes and pick up the axle end bushings tomorrow morning from the dealer.

Slonopotam: You are welcome to come and help. Take Hwy 101 north into San Francisco, Cesar Chavez ST exit west on CC St past Jes's house two blocks to 3965 CC, on the left, pink house, teal green windows and orange brick front (don't ask).

Lee: Hope you like Bud Light, there seems to be an awful lot of it in the garages refrigerator. My wife bought it for when her family visits, but they seem to prefer my Alaskan Amber.

Jes: Can't get off work Friday and Mary and I are going to the Mendecino NF land usage meeting on Saturday. I will be working som evenings this week though. Prepping the axles and parts.

BHolt5035: Thank you for the offer. I had looked at Rocky-Road Outfitters hybrid kit using OME springs, blocks & shacles. Blocks cause me concern, believe they shorten the life of the spring.

Andy: I'll let you know later this week after I do a tooth count on the axles and discuss a possible deal with JP.

JP: PM'd ya. I have a complete axle, But 4.10s will be a good adition.

Basalt51: Have a skid, Lee looking for one.

Thanks again,
Tom

Between Church & Sanchez, right ?
At which time do we start ?

Slonopotam,
That's correct between Church & Sanchez. Church St has the light rail tracks & is one street west of Dorlores , which has palm trees down the center. I figure to begin ~9AM.

XJ_Ranger,
Checked the ratios today, both stock 3.55s. Sorry we'll miss you, on the 4th...but the XJ may still be in pieces by the time you get back.

Lee,
I checked the refrigerator today, also a good collection of 'Beers of the Weird' e.g. one and two bottles of different brews, Sierra Nevada, Anchor Steam, Budwesier Select, etc.
