Leftover Turkey Run at Reiter Nov 28th

What is the difficulty on all these trails
What is the minimum lift height to be able to get through these trails?
Super muddy?
Is damage expected?

Thanks,
-PJ-

Good question. I am not as familiar with these trails as others so they maybe better equiped to answer this than I am. Due to the weather and expected condition it will be VERY wet, muddy, slick and limited traction. I think that a minimum of 33's and 1 locker would be a good rule of thumb. TAD's front and back would probably be more important than size of tires. Winch not necessary but there will be several in the group by the sounds of it.

More importantly than size is capability and reliability. I DO want to cover a lot of ground and as much as I want to enjoy every step along the way, I really want to keep moving as much as possible.

Yes, Damage is inevitable for the group, not necessarily for everyone in the group.

What are your rig's specs?

Super Muddy and Damage are expected.

We should nick name this "Endurance Run"

I have not publically mentioned this yet but I am planning a specific Endurance type run for spring of '09 (this will be a limited attendance, specific requirements run) and this trip to Reiter I hope to be able to help fill a major gap I have in the planning portion of part of it. This is part of the reason I want to cover as much ground as possible.

Understandable! I also like to cover as many trails as possible. That is why I like to start early & end late. All day long baby!!

Trail Of Doom is not so XJ-friendly IMO. I've run it a couple of times in the CJ and rubbed my cage sidebars all over the trees. It's probably do-able with an exo or Oly rack, though. I'd recommend gnarly 35" mudders when it's all slicked up and muddy. Lockers would be good too.

Oh, tentatively in, Michael.:)

I ran TOD when it was first opened. 33's, Spool/Locker, No cage yet, I was also on my own and understand I ran it backwards?. I doubt we will have time for it to be honest, but I would like to get a better update on what would be required. My understanding is it was designed as a "buggy" trail, not a fully bodied vehicle trail.

Backwards, meaning that you ran it downhill, I assume? Yes, there are two specific spots that I remember that kicked me off-camber and I ran my cage sidebars along the trees. Of course, my track width and overall height in the CJ are a bit greater than most XJs, so it may not be an issue. Also, I ran it the first time in the early Spring, second time in August. Much easier in August. I assume it will be in a similar condition now to the first time I ran it, i.e. wet, muddy and sloppy. :)

I know secret trails that will make you hart pound that will work with doing the trails you have listed. And I would say locked F&R after last weekend. I need to post some pics.

I have special, custom, high clearnace rockers & concave doors, so I should be OK. Also have 35's but that is not the point.

No offense, but I'm not going into rhinoland or cable with anyone eqiupped /w anything less than 33's and dual lockers this time of year. I haven't run the others you listed really, so I'm not sure how they stack up.

I'm with ya on that one for sure. Sh!t all the trails are tough righ now. Cable and Grumpy would be doable.

I will be going to Reiter this week end along with some others from here. One of us will post a trail report I am sure. But I have to agree that with the current weather conditions it will be a sloppy mess & should be fun.

Requirements for this run will be:
1. Locker or Spool in the Rear
2. Locker in the front
3. 33" or larger MT tires
4. Tow points front and rear
5. Understanding that there is LOTS of chance of body damage

If you don't meet the above requirements and are still interested in coming along there are plenty of other trails that I am sure you could enjoy and I can point you in the correct direction. Maybe we could have two groups if there are enough who don't meet the above list.

A tow strap attached to front tow hook which is strung to the rear of jeep with zip ties???

No seriously... I have a hitch one my other XJ...I will try to get it swapped over before then.

Same should go for grumpys too, after that trail my tires were mud cakes.
