As others have said start with the lifestyle change. Lapband is not as safe as the billboard say, the best way to lose weight will always be lifestyle changes, it's the most difficult way to do it but it just plain works, you just gotta get your head 100% into it.
Do you buy lunch at work? A good way to save both money and weight is to pack your lunch, I lost ten pounds by only doing that (no lifestyle changes) awhile back, when making your own lunch you can get something that fills you up without all the BS that comes with eating out.
I need to start this whole exercise stuff myself, while I could lose a few pounds I'd just like to have better stamina and not get quite as winded when doing trail maintenance at 7,000 ft!
PS - I'd also get a doctor's perspective in the whole game, from what sort of activities it is safe for you to do and to explore other options. Don't go with one of the LapBand recommended doctors though, get your own real doctor who is not on the payroll of a brand.
