KM 2's for speed?

my buddy runs the new MTRs in his linked prerunner ranger. he likes them but the added weight sucked the power out of his tired 4.0 and tired trans. the KM2s are nice if you can get a deal i would run them in the desert.
On mojave road last year a buddy punctured his sidewall on his bfg baja ta's

I have the new MTR's in 32's. They kick a$$. Rocks, sand, dirt and silt... They have done well in everything so far. I have a little bit of chunking but nothing major.

They are heavy though, but they balanced very well. I would probably get them again.

I was noticing the shoulder lugs to, that dos'nt look like a standard Baja ta. BFG does make some custom tires, might be one. The sidewalls on the Baja's are pretty stout, though, and at least comparable to the MTR's. I guess that's why BFG has generation's of desert racing behind them.

Also notice no sidewall markings. Looks like it was driven on flat. Now the question is did driving on it flat cause the sidewall to thin out and allow it to tear or did he drive on the flat and do the damage after. It looks to have been changed out in the dirt so I think driving on it after the damage isn't as likely.

I was just thinking, wonder if that's an old short course tire?

Could be??? It has a unique pattern. BFG does make custom tires for people but it usually is more number of plies and type of plies from what I understand. Those just don't look like the standard desert racing Baja's. I have a set.....I should know. haha

Ya, I totaly know what you mean. That's why I thought they might be custom one-off's, if they are BFG's.

'Doesn't look like a Baja TA to me either. We've got a couple Baja TAs from the Parker race with similar damage to that, but God you don't want to try what we did to manage it. :D

As far as the KM-2s, my driver (Zoomy97ACR) uses them on his Wrangler. We just had it out on the Mohave trail 'couple weeks ago, He was having zero problems. He's also thinking about replacing the Baja's on the race truck with KM-2s Mainly due to expense, but he expects no wear/abuse problems from them.

All the BFG tires are pretty good as far as cross-use goes. You see ATs, MTs, and the Bajas on full-race trucks. For a DD/occasional go-fast, I'd say use the ATs.

I was going to say, I have have seen alot of prerunner's running AT's.

there custom cut project for CORR. sorry for the confusion

Thats ok. It gave us a fun game for a couple days. haha

Do they build the sidewall for the CORR trucks as strong as the desert ones? I would think they could build a lighter (less durable) tire for short runing like that. I have been known to be wrong before though. :D
