Dan, were you surprised to find that your left front van tire no longer was flat on Sunday? :wave1:

Oh, yes, thanks David! i thanked you in the official GF thread but should have sent ya a pm to make sure you saw it. thanks a TON! It's still holding air just fine, which is a first in 3 years, it used to go flat once every other week. BTW, i think you left your (or Paul's?) tongs in my grill, i can mail them or hand them off to someone.

No worries - you're welcome! I missed rereading the GF thread, sorry. By the way, it was a small screw, maybe #8 or so. The only part of it left was the threads. It was directly in the middle of the tread.

The tongs would be Paul's. Sorry, Paul.

Thank you Dan, for bringing out the grill. It worked out fine for the amount of Spiedies I brought. A few people enjoyed them, and the Spoon Bread.

Death valley Paul?

I may be doing a San Diego run later on this month if Paul's not in a hurry. I'd be going to Mission Valley.

Yes, Death Valley Paul. Get it to him, or cracker.

neither i or the tire shop could find that screw, the leak used to be so minor it couldnt be found with soapy water. i'm guessing maybe that last trip worked it to the surface enough to leak more.
And the spiedies and spoon bread were awesome, thanks again for putting it together. i'll bring the grill anytime, i had tons of room for it and it.

that works for me if it works for Paul. i'm north county SD but i can meet you off the highway on your way down or up.

I guess then I really got lucky. I pumped the tire up and used a bit of water from my water bottle. The bubbles started immediately after going only about 1/2 way around the tire, and it was a breeze to patch, since it was at about the 9:00 position.

It did take a bit of work to get the screw out, as there was nothing to grab onto, and it was a bit below the surface of the tread. But needle nose pliers did the trick.

I think just going out to the lake bed makes things fail. I had to replace a fan clutch (thanks for picking it up, Carol), and had a brake banjo bolt start to leak. Thanks also to Beamer for picking me up a thermostat, just in case.

Vanimal, if you're coming to Kevin's on Friday, you can give me the tongs, I'm close to Mission Valley & it'll give Geoff an excuse to meet me for a beer. He comes down the 5, no the 15, I think...

Shhhhhh, it's a secret!!!
