heh... my slinkys are doing okay.... I actually have 4 crossbars... the 2 OEM and a couple others I added between. I have the extension on order and should be delivered next week. So I will definately take before and after pics with the extension. supposed to add 22 inches.

and as my signature attests, the Yakima tire carrier fits without any modification, so I know I need to take pics of that as well. I was researching the extension before ordering it and alot of people seem to be talking about how's the best way to secure the tires. I think the yakima is best cause it doesn't require a POST sticking up and being in the way when the tire is not on the rack. it uses a ring and j-hook.

I just got my rack the other day and installed it. I am using the thule bars and gutter mount. It sits just above the height that the oem bars would have it sit at. I will be mounting it up differant then the oem way when I get a chence(so there will be no chance of it sliding). Not the greatest pic but a pic non the less

I'm started on my rack. I have the 20" home made extensions in right now. I went to Lowes and got steel electrical conduit. It actually has a thicker wall. Outsied Diameter is exactly 15/16's of an inch. That is exactly the inside diameter of the rack tubing. With a little work it will slide together and then you can drill and bolt it together. I am still brain storming on the rest of it right now.

Looks like a good candidate for a solid floor. I have some thick HDPE that would be perfect for that. Quite tempting...

What is the part number for the towers that you are using?
I'd like a gutter-mount setup that puts the rack as close to the roof (low) as possible. I would remove the OE bars.
Anybody have a low profile system they can recommend?

What about buying two and mating them together? You'd get full coverage that way.

well, thats a good idea. I have $3.97 in what you see right there. So right now i'm $63.00 ahead and the extensions are actually thicker then the stock tubes. So once I figure out the floor we can go from there.

stroketech, lookin good, maybe a big sheet of expanded steel over the bottom would finish it off? I think you can get small rods at home depot to brace it

Yeah, what I was thinking is getting threaded rod for the 6 cross bars. Put 4 nuts in the middle of the threaded rod and after install of the rods spin the nuts out to tighten it in place.

I wouldn't do a solid floor, especially without an air dam in front. That would catch so much wind it would be a PITA to drive.
