So the general consensus seems to be not spare tire worthy. That sucks, thats the only reason I wanted one.
Hammered said:Right there with ya BEAST, I got it just the other week. and its just as I expected. I wont be carrying any tires in it (I have a bumper/ Carrier on the way)... so for what I'll need it will be perfect. Its more of a Basket, which is all I want.
I hear some comments on the mounting system. I have a OEM Canoe rack that is much much better than the rubber spring rails that come stock. So its mounted solid on my rack. I actually like that it could be easily removed without spending a half hour with a bunch of tools and an assistant. I will need to take it off when I take the Canoe out. Here is a pic of the Mounting set up and overall...

Plays For Jeeps said:^Just ordered mine. I made a light bar out of a old gutter mount ladder rack from the junkyard. I am sure I can go find 2 more gutter mount ladder racks and drill/mount/ or weld the rack to the ladder racks.

Stroketech said:Sweet! I just ordered mine 5 mins ago. I'm looking at the extension right now. I have never put anything on the roof of my xj, what are your opinions on the strength of the factory cross members and tracks? I dont want this thing coming off going down the highway!
not that simple because they come in 2 pieces. So you have the front or the back in 1 piece.citRon said:has anyone tried buying 2 and connecting themto make it longer?
