Just got the Coleman rack today...

So the general consensus seems to be not spare tire worthy. That sucks, thats the only reason I wanted one.

I am ordering one now. Just for the hell of it I looked at the Coleman website. They want 204.00 for it, plus 10.00 shipping. OUCH well I know where I'm ordering mine from. It came to 68.19 becouse I am not a member and plus taxes.

Right there with ya BEAST, I got it just the other week. and its just as I expected. I wont be carrying any tires in it (I have a bumper/ Carrier on the way)... so for what I'll need it will be perfect. Its more of a Basket, which is all I want.

I hear some comments on the mounting system. I have a OEM Canoe rack that is much much better than the rubber spring rails that come stock. So its mounted solid on my rack. I actually like that it could be easily removed without spending a half hour with a bunch of tools and an assistant. I will need to take it off when I take the Canoe out. Here is a pic of the Mounting set up and overall...

Hammered, you are the only other person, besides me, that Ive seen that has the Mopar sport bars and canoe rack. I like them and Ive told others here about them but I dont think you can find them anymore.

^Just ordered mine. I made a light bar out of a old gutter mount ladder rack from the junkyard. I am sure I can go find 2 more gutter mount ladder racks and drill/mount/ or weld the rack to the ladder racks.

NO....it IS spare tire worthy. I usually have mine up there. It's plenty strong enough.

Get those pics up. For 60 bucks, I may pick one up.

Kind of...I have 6" lights up there that mount on top of the bar...but they still don't stick up beyond the top of the rack...at least not by much if at all.

Sweet! I just ordered mine 5 mins ago. I'm looking at the extension right now. I have never put anything on the roof of my xj, what are your opinions on the strength of the factory cross members and tracks? I dont want this thing coming off going down the highway!

i would say around 100 pounds maybe. you might be able to get off with 150. but i dont think i would want that over my head going down the highway :explosion

Hey Stroketech, glad to see you made it over here....great group of guys.

I scored another pair of OEM crossbars off of ebay, to use four total under the basket for support, but I am still keeping my eye out for some gutter mount crossbars.

Well, reg price on the rack is 200 so 89 isnt to bad for the extender. But now that they have reduced the rack they ought to reduce the extender.
