Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

Anyone have an experience with the guys at Jeff Daniel's or The Jeep Shop? I have met the owner of Jeff Daniel's and he is really cool. Seems like a pretty laid back, high end shop. I have never done anything more than drive by the Jeep Shop. Reason I ask is I may be looking for a semi short-term (1-3 years) job in October, and have really been thinking about what I would like to do with myself. I would expect neither of these places to be hiring, but as a shop hand for starters who knows, maybe they could use someone a few days a week. I'm not looking for $20+/hr or whatever they would pay a certified mechanic. Doesn't take much to beat my current wages....

There are two guys that own Jeff Daniels.... there is Jeff, and there is Daniel.

Can't remember their last names right now, but I seem to remember that they are not related. I led a guided trail ride with them last year at RC, and both seem to be pretty cool. Call them up, or better yet, go to their event this coming weekend and talk to either of them. I suppose the worse they can say is "sorry, not hiring..." but you never know, you might get lucky....

yeah, what he meant to say is "he met one of them" by the name of Dan Zeigler. Might have met Jeff Roberts too, but there were a couple of strange people there when we were there, and it was hard to know who was who other than the guy in front of the camera was Dan...
but that's an entirely different story. but yeah, Zeigler like the apple cider.

I have RE 4.5" front springs. do you consider them stiff?

or
I also have 3" Rough Country springs ... are they stiffer than 3.5" RE springs?

No idea, I have never ran any of those springs. I have run the Rock Krawler 6.5" coils and the 8" coils with long arms and Bilstein 5150's though, and am pleased with how they work/flex. I have the 6.5" RK springs with short arms and DB's on the MJ right now, with Bilstein 5125's, and they seem to work well in that application too.

I have compared side-by-side (laying on the bench) the RE 6" (equivalent) spring with a Rock Krawler 6.5" spring, and the RK spring is quite a bit taller, with more wraps, and the size of the of the spring steel seems to be smaller on the RK 6.5" spring too.

Yep, sounds right. Many people assume that they met Jeff "Daniels" when they meet Jeff though (me included), and that is not the case. I never realized it until I wheeled with them last year. I had really never dealt with them before though.

That's what I woulda thought too, but on all the CFC vehicles in this yard, they spraypaint all the stuff that can't be taken off orange. The guy said you can take small accessories like alternators and throttle bodies, but intake manifolds are a no-go. Doesn't make sense to me...At other junkyards, the intakes weren't spraypainted so maybe it's just this one...just kinda pissed me off that they told me I couldnt take them and I came back a week later and they were all gone.

Yeah thats friggin BS

unless they took them out? doubt it....

I found that out before I met them I think..
My boss then /co-worker now, knows them through church/ex-wife/something like that. Anyway he saw my jeep told me about the place, then I forgot until I went there for something else and realized where I was.

That sounds like the life though, Get rich on the family apple cider business, and start a jeep shop..
I was born into the wrong family.

Re: NAC Lots-O- Posts Thread-Part Deux

I am working towards changing my family tree. It can be done with some hard work T&E. Anyways Andy, I was going to say in my original post about the shocks that I had cheapo PORC springs up front. Mark you have OME springs not RC springs and they ride pretty nice. Maybe I will just go 5150's up front and 5125s in the rear like I was originally thinking.

I met Dan...totally forgot about that detail of it not being Jeff Daniel's haha. I am sure he would remember me as Mark and I were the only NORMAL people in the shop that day (other than the mechanics) --long story! They are way out of the way for me but I would like to find something I enjoy and make it my job. I enjoy video editing/production (what I went to school for) but I wish I had found out before that what industry "professionals" actually make and what kind of jobs you have to take to get anywhere. I mean serriously, $10 an hour for a 12-14 hour day? I would rather be a plumber's assistant, at least then you get some good stories and some good laughs once the PVC glue comes out. I would go meet them this weekend if I wasn't going to be away...I would like to get up there soon though just to see what they have going on and all and re-introduce myself and see if they have any need for help even if it is part time.
