Well mr.hammered and me had the discussion and we feel otherwise, and besides, its cheap, looks cool, and gives me something to do today :laugh3:

just to be honest its prolly gonna be a long long time till you see any TJ at a junk yard... this is why I said get an XJ.
You cant cut costs on a TJ. Just Empty Every Pocket. Best bet is to find used stuff on a Jeep forum honestly.

and the cone filter is indeeeeed an upgrade from the XJ airbox, it is one you can feel and hear. And you dont need to buy some brand name cone to get good results.

Did the Mod today ALSO I had a revelation on the way to the auto Store. My buddy lifted his TJ so I called him and he gave me his 30" A/T's on some sweet new rims for 200$ and I dont have to pay him any time soon. They look SO MUCH BETTER on my Jeep.

Cone Mod:

I bought a APC Cone Filter with 3 rings that made the fitting adjustable. I went out and bought this 8$ piece to use as the pipe between the filter and the rubber thing, but it was crap so I just didnt use it. Then I bough 3 1/2" PVC. Cut it down to about 5 or 6 inches. Then I took a bench grinder and took 1/8 inch off one end all the way around (like a taper) so it fit in the rubber hose. Then I drilled a hole, and put the little nipple I bought in there with some silicon after I painted it black. Fit it right up and used some zip-ties to secure it a bit (any input on a better method would be greatly appreciated. ) Overall, I can hear a difference and feel a slight difference in the starts for sure. It sounds sick though.

AND THOSE TIRES! Gahhh I love em. I will clean it tomorrow and post pics.

Hahaha yeah I mean even if there isnt a severe difference in what I did today, it was better than sitting around, and it looks good and sounds good! You dont think it will suck anything up do you?
