Junk Yard Parts Finds/Requests

The JY off the 91 fwy in carson, has 4 pre 1997 XJs and 2 pre 98 G cherokews..I picked up a gas skid plate for $25 for my 2000 XJ...

A bit north for most of you but there is an 88 4x4 Comanche short bed in the Fresno pick n pull with a gas tank and trans skid and a fairly straight tail gate. Seemed like something was messed up with the lever Bc it didn't want to open but may be of use. Bed has a fair sized dent in the drivers side and a dent pushed out towards the cab.

High pinion 44 at the Wilmington Ecology. The wedges looked welded, not cast but I don't know what I'm looked at.

Also some big 8 lug thing, also off a Ford:

And a '99 WJ with complete brake setup.

Scott, how much for you to pull me the WJ stuff?
Also, still on the look out for an MJ rear axle, prefer something NOT a D35. And Min of 3.55 gears.

lurch, those look cast to me but I don't knwo what I'm looking at either.

Also what year F350/F250 was that 8 lug axle under? It looks like an 8 lug F250 HD44... but I may be wrong.

Any other time I would man, but I just don't have the time to do it tomorrow and next week is Goatfest.

According to the scribbles on the B pillars that I took pics of the five lug is a '75 and the 8 lug is a '79.

It will be a 44. Ford had the five lug 44 in F100/F150 and eight lug in F250.

75 1/2 ton will be welded wedges. 78-79 1/2 ton is cast wedges

anyone see any late model XJs with decent rear doors? I smashed the handle in on my drivers rear door this weekend.

probably need a new latch mechanism and handle.

(I have a 99)

There's a red '87 two door in the far corner of the Wilmington Ecology with a 44. Half off day, bolt in XJ 44 for $100 if you're willing to work in toxic water.

It's spring over axle... show up with an angle grinder, boltcutter, and sawzall and drag that axle out from under the junker 2.5 minutes later :laugh2:

Cordless sawzall and angle grinder being added to my junkyard havoc collection resulted in me completely rethinking what kinds of parts I could get quickly.

Yup, those are 2 must have tools for a pick a part. Axle removal in 5 minutes. Add a 1/2 or 3/8 impact to that also. Last one is on my wish list but the Milwaukee fuel stuff is so damn expensive.

Was not expecting right meow, but let me know. On a budget, like most of us, Thanks.
Heck, if cheap enough I'll take a whole front WJ 30.

Nice. That HP44 was still there and I spent about 20 minutes with a cordless impact trying to break the control arm bolts in pouring rain then said screw it.

A cordless grinder would have been nice.

Damn, and i had my cordless grinder with me today. The rear D44 didn't put up a fight though, so didn't need to break it out.

what brand you using ? HF or something decent?

I wouldn't trust a HF grinder (cordless or not). I use Milwaukee for both my corded and cordless. Just one of those tools I never want to die in the middle of a project and then have to go replace. I'd rather pay for a quality tool that is going to take some abuse. I have had my A/C grinder for 9+ years and it has seen serious use and always keeps going. I wear out before it does.

I just picked up the cordless 18V Lithium grinder on Black Friday (along with the drill and Hex driver set). :D

Sawzall is a Ridgid, I like it. Friend of mine got it for me (along with a drill, 2 batteries, and a charger) for doing an EFI 4.0 swap on his YJ.

Angle grinder is a Ryobi, love the tool, hate their batteries, hate their warranty and weasel behavior/company more. Will never buy another Ryobi power tool on principle, rather than give them more money to replace my defective batteries they refused to warranty (went from working great on one charge to not charging at all the next, after owning them for 9 months and using maybe a dozen times, they refused to honor their 3 year warranty because I hadn't read the fine print and registered them on the website the packaging never mentioned) I bought a 12 volt and a 6 volt 12 amp-hour lead acid battery, gutted one of the junk batteries they screwed me on, and am going to wire it up and have like 4 hours of cutting time.

I haven't had a chance to hit the yard so I haven't needed to actually wire the lead acids up... probably going Saturday though so tonight or Friday night I need to toss it together.
