sounds good. i think he wants $100 for it. i just payed $71 for that 242 23 spline at ecology that was on that green 91. someone had it half way down for me allready. but took the pan off the aw4. i hate when they do that, unless of course they needed just the pan. otherwise i probably would have taken both.
Just scoped out the Oceanside yard and only saw two xjs. One 99+ in the primo yard with a d35 and one early 90s in the regular yard that is pretty well parted already.
Since Ecology Auto Wreckers was advertising 50% off; I decided I would cruise thru the Oceanside Ecology and see what was remaining on the newer XJs.... Very disappointed to say the least !!!!
Cruised the Primo yard and found a silver 2000 XJ Classic that was really picked over already... Spotted a few relays in the PDC and figured what the heck I can use a few spares... By the way; it does have a full set of factory tinted windows intact.
Went to the checkout window and there were several spanish girls working the registers who made a point of waiting on the Mexican guys first.
Guess I must have had DUMB GRINGO stencilled on my forehead.... Showed the girl the relays and she says... "That will be $24". I responsed with " You are kidding".... What happened to the 50% off ?? She says.... That is 50% off !!! I said, "You can keep them at that price" !!!! Left the relays on the counter and I walked off....
To my surpise one of the security guards smiled and said, " Yeah the prices here are kind of high; you might try the other yard across the highway".
IF the prices are so high; why were there so many Mexican people in the yard purchasing parts....
Guess I should have brought one of my friends who is of Spanish decent to get a reasonable price !!!!
The main problem I encountered was not being the right nationality.....
Felt like a visitor in a foreign land.
My honesty only contributed to this problem.
ive never ran into a problem when it comes to prices or anything. those girls seem to really know what they are doing actually. i useually know what im going in for and try and get the price before i remove anything from the vehicle. but every time ive went up to the counter, the girls tell me the exact price the main office gave me on the phone. and im a blue eyed, blond hair white trash mofo. now on the other hand, the yard dogs DO give the hispanics prefered treatment. all i needed yesterday was a hand lifting a transfer case onto my cart so i can bring it up and i asked the yard dog and two hispanic guys working on the truck next to me. they said "sure, no problem" and i stood there for a good 20 minutes. i finally muscled it up myself and got a half a quart of fluid on my lap. no biggie, i did it all myself. oh, and i am disabled and walk with two canes. and yes they spoke english. so they did understand me.

On trash night a close friend (he is in his late 70s) put out several heavy items (more than 50 lbs each) and the following morning one of the trash guys refused to remove the items complaining that they were too heavy. My friends wife (Indian background and speaks Spanish fluently) insulted his masculinity by asking him if he wanted her to lift the items for him.... The humiliated trash guy moved the items into the trash truck to prove his masculinity.... and drove off.
The next time I go I will ask one of my spanish speaking female friends accompany me to bridge the nationality gap....
Ummmm. I got a dana 44 and a gas metal skid plate for $88 dollars. From the sunland pick your part last week when they had the 50% of sale. Iam not mexican but kind of look like it. I told her the axle was from a car. (crownvictoria). Her name was Kat. Pretty latina chick. Flirted with her so she would nt hassle me about the parts. Iwas worried when I was on the exit for the guy to check the receit. Pass right through.
well i checked the fontana ecology and really found nothing exciting so i went to the ontario pick a part on milliken and as always a bunch of xj's some picked clean.. a couple 231's and a couple clean interiors... but nothing of much use to me.. lol
brad _ couldnt find ur bezels bro.. the 3 newer xj's i did find were already robbed sorry.. but i hit the yards often just for lookin and if i see them they will come home with me
