What the hell possessed you to do that?

there's so many things I want to say....but I'll stick with: Good luck and a bit of advice....if you have friends going to college don't ever speak to them again - as soon as they start telling you stories you'll realize the mistake you've made. Like I said though good luck on your journeys.

I've just about finished my commitment (five months left)....going back to school next fall. All good things come to those that wait (i keep telling myself).

They aren't likely to say anything to your face (despite how much they disagree with what you do for a living). Of all the people i ran into at my little brothers college..there weren't more than a couple than had anything negative to say to my face. I'm told that i'm intimidating though :D.

Yeah, they'll be jealous of your stories. :patriot:

I know I'm always jealous when my friends are getting shot at.

These ones actually had plenty to say to me, hence the reason I don't talk to them anymore. Most of them got burned out by school and dropped out, too.

I don't know anybody like that thankfully. However all my friends were sad to see me go, only a couple were waiting when I got back. Now their either wealthy and smart or living with their parents still. So ya maybe the army isn't too bad a choice....other than the ugly ass uniforms. And to think you're always gonna wonder, "Am I tough enough to be a Marine?" and "Man those uniforms look sharp" Then there's always the "Why are all the girls in the bar surrounding the Marines?"

OK OK The last one is a lie, 9/10 Marines marry the most hideous creatures to hobble along the earth.

Heh, yeah blues are OK. Only thing I ever thought about Marines was, 'Wow, those guys can march.'

Girls surrounding Marines? That's because the Jarhead is giving home decorating tips. :o

:D:D:D

after 6 years in the navy i go home and all those people that "went to school" are still there in my home town. 90% of them drooped out and are working dead end jobs just to put food on the table and the rest finished. out of the 10% that did finish i would say 5% are make decent life for them selves actually doing something closely related to what they went to school for

all i can say is that i don't regret one single moment of my service. i have been to 48 different countries and met a random woman in most of them. i have drank many beers with friends that i will never forget. most of all i have done my part to make sure that each person in the great country can have the constitutional rights

:wantyou:

the army taught me alot about what I didnt want to do for a living...gave me the inspiration to go back to school and not settle for a dead end job...and you will probably never regret going in, not after 4 years...only 2 years in might not let you mature enough within the machine for you to appreciate it...

BUT Fort Knox is COLD in Jan/Feb...probably warmer than Maine though...

Have fun. When you get the chance...start sending a H1 back home a piece at a time...we'll long arm it and throw some D60's under it

You will be better off than your friends going to college. A) you will know how to handle pressure. B) 4 years of experience C) you can save a lot of money up D) you can get alot of money for college. there are alot of benefits to being a veteran, expecially during war time.

I spent 6 years as a mechanic in the Navy, when I got out I got a job working in a power plant and made $50,000 my first year there. My best friend in high school spent his 6 years going to college and graduate school, was $70,000 in debt and worked at KFC making $6.00 per hour when he was done. Need I say more?

because everyone that goes to college works at kfc....
