John D Super Slo-Mo Rebuild

I just left mine alone and Jim is still beating the piss out of it til this day, they weren't quite that deep though. Weld the tubes to the pumpkin for sure.

Thanks Brian. I figured this was at least somewhat normal for these, especially here in Michigan. I should have said the reason I was considering filling these areas in and grinding smooth isn't for strength, it's because I'm concerned the u-bolts could loosen up due to being uneven.

Definitely planning to weld the tubes to the center.

Woulnd't your U-bolts be inboard more? I'd assume the spring perch width is narrower than the ol chevy it came out of

I found another housing, it's a SRW housing in good condition and I transferred my C&C hubs/axles onto it so I still have the 63" WMS. The guy I plan to buy my brake kit from offers a "SRW housing and C&C hub" bracket so brakes will be easy too.
Doing more research it seems the corrosion is common with the C&C housing due to using a weird clamping system to attach the axle to the leaf spring. Anyway, I should be getting started on this soon. Just want to squeeze a few more miles out of it before the weather turns.

How do you keep that thing so clean? My jeep is hammered.

Ordered lots of stuff today, it's going to be an early Christmas!!!

He just ordered a bunch of cool Barnes4wd parts....
Brian - Thanks for the help.

Keep me posted. We should do a shakedown like you said.
Walt - I would say, let's race to see who's ready first, but you have an unfair advantage. LOL
