Jeepers Jamboree - Alternative for people w/ children?

Years ago I did a run at Jeepers Jamboree and loved it. However, I have young children and they will only allow 10+ to come along. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any other large organized runs at the Rubicon trailer in the summertime that is more family friendly? I want to tie a trip in with a large organized group in to a trip we would like to make to the Bay Area this year.

Let me know, thanks!

Look at Sierrafest in the Sierra Chapter forums. Not as large, not as organized, not as expensive but a heck of a lot more fun.

While I completely agree with Boatwrench and would choose running with Sierra Chapter over any of the large organized runs (I prefer to run it mid-week when no one else is there), there are other large organized runs on the Con that may allow younger children.

The Jeep Jamboree (different than the Jeepers Jamboree) seems to be fine with kids under 10 years old:
"There’s no charge for children five years of age or under on any Jamboree."
...
"The Family Plan pricing for Classic Jamboree events is $750 per vehicle, while the Select Jamborees are only $500. There are some qualifying requirements – you must have two adults in the vehicle (no more, no less) and one or more children under 15 years old."

Is Sierrafest put together by NAXJA? Is it XJ's only or are other Jeeps permitted?

That's just a little less than what it cost me to go to winterfest, the Cherokee crawl and moab in 2013. I know they are a well put together event but NAXJA events are way cheaper and probably a lot more fun.

Keep an eye out in Sierra Chapter forum for any informal Rubicon runs. You can always post up the dates you want to go in the SC forum and normally someone will tag along with you.

Agreed that Sierrafest, or wheeling with the Sierra Chapter guys is great on the Rubicon!

Last year we had a collection of XJ's, 2 XJ buggies, a Ford powered Land Rover, a CJ, and a Land Cruiser.

My buddy Max brought his kids and dogs, in a Toyota Land Cruiser.

And Buck Island Lake, in general, is a great place to be a kid - even if its raining.
