Jeep or RZR

So ive been thinking recently. Should I sell the Jeep and save for one of those RZR's? or keep the Jeep. I want to put my Jeep on tons and 37's or 39.5s, but the more i got to thining about that is why? With the Con being paved, and the closure of our 4x4 trails, do i really need a crawler? Yea its fun, but theres only so many places left to go thats close (fordyce, moonrocks, a few places in NV).

My buddy has a RZR and I had a blast in it! They can haul butt in the desert but can also go through the rubicon at buggy speed. Plus it would still be fun on a fire road and you can take them anywhere there is a quad trail. The only downside is the street legality of them.

What do you guys think. This was just a thought. Im trying to decide if I really need to build the crap out of my Jeep or not?
 
i feel like you'll regret it.

get a full rear locker, and carry spare pitman arms, truss the 30 and knuckle guests, call it done. you already do everything.

then consider building a front hp60 over time.
 
Id say just keep your jeep as is and save your money for gas. Your built enough to run the con, any bigger and half the stuff on the con won't be fun anymore.

Remember that half of the closures your talking about are temporary. And even if the rubicon gets "paved", it is still one of the most beautiful places in the world.

A RZR would've sick, but in my opinion it's not all that practical. If I were you, I'd drop the 60, 14 bolt, and the ORIs but keep your nice 35s and 3 Link the front of your heep, 4 link the rear, stretch it (dat wheelbase), throw on your hydro assist, flat belly/tummy tuck it and get it as low as you can. It will keep you busy and in the end you will still have a super capable and streetable rig, and still have money left in your pocket.

I was thinking 37's so i could still drive to trails.
all i need to do:
-genright stretch tank (keep it somewhat legal)(1k basically)
-install my PSC hydro/box(already have)
-drop in my 60 after building it (1-2k later)
-steering/front 3 link (800-1k)
-4 link rear (not sure how much yet)
-14b(1k max)
-tummy tuck (already have)
-37's (not sure how much yet)

sell my axles,suspension and tires(maybe 4k if im lucky)




it all adds up.. But what good is a dana 60/14b if theres nothing fun to play on anymore?
 
I would trade my jeep, Tow rig, and trailer for a RZR 900 XP in a heart beat..

Ideally you need both, the rzr and jeep allow you access to different places. I was very close a month ago to selling my race quad so I could build my jeep. Thankfully the offer I had fell through and I avoided making a big mistake.

Keep the jeep and start saving
 
yeah you're better off keeping the jeep and saving for a RZR good point
 
Way to many yuppie douches drive those over priced golf carts for me to even consider buying one. The rzr 900 will cost you nearly $20k out the door, if you want an overbuilt golfcart, you could bu a samurai and build it for half that. Every time I've seen a side by side on the trail or at hollister, there was a douche behind the wheel. Tearing up the meadow on slickrock, cutting through a line of vehicles waiting their turn for an obstacle, and the guy asking me for a bottle of water to clean his headlights. Not saying you have to be a tool to own one, but I wouldn't want to be associated with the owners I've encountered.
 
I might buy a side by side but it wouldn't be a POS Polaris.

Three of my brothers and a nephew have owned them. One brother finally got smart and sold his.

I have never seen a more unreliable pile of garbage in my life. Every trip, without exception when they go out, at least one of them will break. They break clutches, axle shafts, electronic components. One brother had an engine block crack. They couldn't fix it and wouldn't warranty it. He had to sell it back to the dealer and then the dummy turned around and bought another one. My nephew had some sensor go out. Because of the way it's built they had to completely disassemble it to replace. Cost him $2200.

These guys are not hard in them either. They are all older guys who use them mostly to trail ride in the mountains.

The one brother who got smart and sold his traded it in on one of the new Arctic Cat go fast models and hasn't had a single issue so far.
 
ive only been in one once out at moonrocks. I had the time of my life.. I talked to Ken on the Rubicon (ATVObsession) and he is in love with his. It was just a thought. After thinking about it, i still like driving my Jeep around town and could build a solid machine on 37's.

isnt half the fun building your junk and takeing it were most folks wouldn't dare. Keep the Jeep. Any tool can hop on one of those roided out go carts .Takes some real effort to build and wheel a Jeep.
 
Jeep and RZR is the best solution, but if I had to choose..I dont know..

They do different things and as has already been stated, those RZRs are damn fun (the most fun Ive had in any vehicle, ride, roller coaster, etc). The RZRs will climb what a lot of Jeeps can't and will do it faster than the ones that can and get into tighter areas than Jeeps as well..

I'm not helping by saying that it's a hard call and I've been having this debate with myself for about 8 mos now, lol

The Jeep will get you "there" and in and the RZR is for once you're "there" and wanna get in further..
 
Keep the jeep, sack up and get another dirt bike and go farther than any razer could get.
Get a hitch rack and you'll have both toys to rip on in most scenarios.
