Jeep 2500 Parts... I found them here...

Hi all, a newbie to this forum. I found it when I was searching for Jeep 2500 parts.

Anyways, I am living in Beijing and own a Jeep 2500 (actually my second one from here). Here's a run down on the vehicle:

1) It is a very popular vehicle in China, especially Beijing
2) It is made just outside Beijing, and you will notice the BJC emblem ... that stands for Beijing Jeep Corporation
3) It is a Joint Venture between Chrysler & BJC
4) New, all taxes, etc, on the road is about 140,000 RMB, which is now about $18,000 (US)
5) Lightly used Jeep 2500s go for around half that, because nobody wants to buy a used vehicle.
6) They meet all US/Canada emissions, but do not meet side crash safety tests.
7) Parts and servicing for these is ridiculously low. I hit a huge goose flying across a freeway a couple of weeks ago. A complete new grill assembly, installed at the dealer, was about $60.
8) Build quality is not great, but not bad. It has imperfections, but when repairs are so inexpensive, who really cares.

Anyways, I will try to contact the aforementioned supplier and see what info I can get about parts being paid for, shipped to the USA/Canada. I will then post the info.

If you want to see other Jeep 2500 parts, you can visit the Chinese equivalent of eBay. It is www.taobao.com. It is all in Chinese, of course, but you can search for Jeep 2500 and kinda figure it out. Prices are in RMB, which is about 7.4 rmb to $1.

wow 18000 usd, its almost worth it to get one and import it for personal use, if i understand correctly we cant register it because of the side impact crash rating?

Hey jeep2500

Is the grille made into the main header panel?

What would it cost to send over pair of headlights and grille/header panel?

I am not an authority on importing vehicles, but have heard that it is very difficult. But I have only heard rumours, sorry.

The grille and header are separate. Together, they would cost about 350 rmb. Each headlight assembly (complete with lenses, etc) is about 250 rmb. I would guess the total parts cost would be about 900 rmb, shipped to a location inside China.

Here is an example of the grille header on taobao ...

Here is an example of a brand new headlight assembly on taobao ...

So, the parts cost would be about $125 (US) plus shipping to the USA/Canada (I have absolutely no idea how much that would be).

So if the 2500 is based on the pre-97 body does that mean the tail lights will work on my 91?
Yes.

Jeep 2500 you would be my hero if I could get all that stuff for $125 plus shipping. If Alexparts won't do it is there any chance you could go to the dealer and get some parts if we paypalled you? Please let us know what you find out from that supplier.
Thank you,
Collin

Any insight Jeep2500?
I think he fell off the face of the Earth maybe?

I cant help but notice you crap jeeps, but dont actually eat them. Sounds like a business venture if cleaned properly. Anyone know about the compatibility of -96 and 97+ front end ends? Also it looks like you would have to get fenders and bumpers to get the 2500 front end.

fenders. yes
bumpers. not necessary

There's a guy who converted his MJ with a 97+ clip/ interior, he rolled it, now he's converting the it to
a 2500 exterior (minus the bumper). He's living proof you can reconfigure your XJ/MJ anyway you like.

Here's the link to his conversion

oh and for reference, here's the link to converting a pre96 to a 97+

.

Those look cool. Another thing besides owning my XJ I always wanted an MJ. Lot of ones I've seen are hard to come by and when ya do its like their all rusted. I like how this guy has originally converted his to the 97+ then the 2500. It looked really nice as the 97+. Could possily sell my XJ to get an MJ and put the rest of the money I get over the MJ's cost back into the MJ to fix it up. So if it got like 7k for mine and bought and MJ for a g or two I could use the rest of the cash to hook it up. Make it look brand new and stuff. :)

Sorry for the delay in getting back to this forum.

It is a holiday period in China right now. Chinese New Years is the equivalent of our Christmas period. Many shops have closed for a couple of weeks, including Alexparts. I will try again after Feb 14, the official "return to work" time.

I asked my dealer about the grille/lights/etc, and he told me that you'd likely have to also replace the fenders, as the lights wrap around.

As for the question about the cruise control, it is an option, so many steering wheels do not have the cruise buttons (mine included).

I am a business prof and I suggested to a few of my students that they might want to make a few RMB setting up an export biz for foreign Jeep owners. ;)

Anyways, I will let you know something more as soon as I do.

I figured we would need the fenders too. Thanks for keeping us updated!
