Sorry I have not been able to keep up with these posts over the last couple of days. I am back home and will have a chance to look at the maps posted later today as well as look through mine.

Here is what I believe (off the top of my head):
From the Index side, we have been up to the pass on several occasions (where we have eaten lunch in the past and played in the snow, etc). Usually we have gone up to the right which has always had more snow. I believe that going down and strait would get us to the same place we tried to go up the first time we tried from the skykomish side. I suspect (but have no proof) that the 2nd time we tried from teh skykomish side might end up going through also but have not been able to confirm yet.

My current plan is to start from the index side this time, and if we have enough for two groups, we can lead two groups on two trails and hopefully get both groups over to the skykomish side, and then go back on the opposite trails we came in on. Makeing a complete loop. Of course some times I am a little over zelus, and I am trying not to be attached to any outcomes.

I am still not sure if I am trailering my rig or not, I will also be talking to the ranger station and make sure everything is still open and no issues they are aware of.

I will try to review the maps as soon as possible.

I think you are correct. Atleast that is what Trace and I think.

Sounds like a perfect plan. I can't wait. I don't think there is any new snow in the forecast between now and then. But they say sunshine with possible sprinkles for Sunday

I have looked at the maps, and I have to agree with Han's.

So the plan will be to go "down" 65 if there is just 1 group.
If there are two, then 1 will go down 65 and the other will try 6550 (looks much smaller on my other maps). With any luck we can meet up at the bridge at the bottom and both go back up the opposite trails.

I suspect we will be able to keep in contact via CB's with both groups.

That will work except we may not enter the trail at the same place we exit. But we can work something out. Go ahead and bring your jeep with you.

Matt do I need to wash my jeep before Sunday. I mean having a remote correspondent of the fabulous magazine(JPFreek) with us, you never know what pic will end up on the cover

On a serious note: Just a reminder PLEASE bring warm cloths, more then enough food, shovel, recovery straps, a sleeping bag (just in case we decide to do an impromptu snow cave trip) and a GO team attitude.

I know it has been a while since you have been wheeling, but do you not remember what Matt's Jeep looks like and his made the front cover. :looney:

I do plan on leaving the same way we go in, however, that could change during the day. I was planning on trailering my Jeep and I am not exactly sure if I am going to do that or not, and where I might be leaving the tow rig and trailer. I believe there might be at least 2 others that could be towing, so I intend on having a good place to leave at least 3 tow rig and trailers reasonably close to the trail entrance. Another reason to go back out the way we came in

Well, I F'd up, and thought I could get away with running the steering UTK for tomorrow, while using the stock TB. My thoughts were wrong. The tie rod kept hitting the TB bracket on the axle, and I dont have my TB or TB mounts finished. So, Im just going to run it OTK like originally planned, and finish up the TB and mounts. I would of put the stock steering back in, but I already drilled out the knuckles and pitman arm. :doh:

So, Im not going to be able to make it tomorrow. I was going to ride shotgun with Phil, but I need to get it done before Monday, so I have something to drive to work.

Looks good though!! A couple of comments if you don't mind. It looks like you have a spacer above the tie rod and below the draglink that you dont need (the closer you can get those the better off you are obviously). Looks great. What size and material are they? What are you doing for the TB when you move it up?

The spacer is a saftey washer, that needs to be moved to the top of the 2 rod ends. I just bolted it up to move the Jeep into the driveway.

The drag link and tie rod is made of 1.25" OD, .3125(5/16") wall, DOM. Direct tapped the tube for use of 3/4" rod ends, with a 5/8" bolt hole, on the tie rod. The drag link rod ends are 3/4" rod ends, with 3/4" bolt hole. Reason I went that way, I was able to run the hi misalignment spacers, and keep the 5/8" bolt.

The TB is 1.25" OD, .250(1/4") wall DOM. Both ends are direct tapped for use with a 7/8" rod end, with a 3/4" bolt hole. I havent made any of the mounts yet, but for the frame side, Im going to try to modify the stock bracket. For the axle end, it will be custom out of 3/16" or 1/4" plate and/or box tubing.

Still got to go over my plans again in the morning.

Pretty Damn close, I think most everyone else is probably still eating mexican food in monroe, we just got home about an hour ago. Awesome day. Long, difficult and never dull.:sunshine: :doh:
I'm sure the stories and pics will start flowing tomorrow. Thanks for setting today up Michael, I'm sure we wont soon forget it.

I just got to work barely on time. Though I didn't go to monroe for Mexican. I headed up stevens right after and changed at my ski cabin. I lucked out too my Dad was there making beef tenderloin and potatoes. I think I got the better meal than the guys who went for Mexican, and mine was free

Next time there will definitely tow points but hopefully a lift and tires by then so no dragging should be required... hopefully.

Fantastic snow run!

Made it home a little before 9, logged into work and found a small fire ... almost done putting it out.

The real news is I put my tow strap through the wash. Should I let it drip dry or run it through the dryer with a couple "outdoor fresh" Bounce™ dryer sheets? :dunno:
