I saw an interesting thing on another web site just now. It all turned out to be a big hoax. Something about Metallica bringing up a lawsuit against an up and coming band for using two guitar chords back to back and stating it was a "Metallica-created" chord combination and was viewed as copyright infringement. Again, this was only a ruse, a hoax, a joke. But it does show the growing disdain for the band and what they have turned themselves into.
That said, anyone here still care for their music? I thought "Load" was a big departure (in the wrong direction) from their previous releases, and the same with "Reload". "Garage, Inc." was also a let-down,being that it was simply "Garage Days Re-Revisted" remastered with another cd with more covers I didn't even bother listening to the one they did with whatever orchestra that was. This new "hard-core" Metallica album out ,"St. Anger",is supposed to be their "return to basics", heavy metal, kick-ass album, but I don't want to go out and waste another $16 to be disappointed yet again. Who out there has bought it,and more importantly, what is your honest opinion of it?
The last GREAT album (this is all just my opinion,BTW) I bought from them was "Live Sh*t-Binge and Purge" An all-out,no-holds barred live metal box set with all of their greatest stuff on it. It had 3 CD's and 3 videos and it was well worth the price paid for it. I went to see the concert and loved every minute of it (I was almost deaf when we left and still had permagrin anyway).
A lot of folks out there say when Cliff Burton passed on,the real Metallica died with him. While I can say I did like the band then,I also liked Jason Newstead, too. He seemed to bring an energy to the band that they were missing before. Anyway, now that he's gone,I seriously doubt the band will be taken seriously anymore. Kind of like Van Halen going through singers, and Motley Crue going through drummers.
Anyway, enough of my rambling Check out this funny site regarding Metallica, and rock on (to whoever)!!:anon:
