Iron Scorpion Bumper Kit???

Got my kit and started to it today.
1. My welding skills suck! And I couldn't wait for my Steel wire to show up, so I started with flux core.

2. cgmrdc, it looks like your tow tabs are only two 3/16" plates thick. Mine came with 3, did you just decide not to use all three?

3. Given the fact that my welds are hideous and the sheer amount of welds, there is gonna be LOTS of grinding.

But so far so fun. I'm putting the steering box brace on before I tack the brackets onto the bumper so I won't make any progress for a while.

When I get my .035" in I'll be running nearly the same setup as you (Pro Mig 175) with C02/Argon. What did you have your welder set at? With the .035 flux core, its seems to be working best at C-2 to C-2.5. The box recommends D but it seems to burn TOO HOT. I would like an idea where to start with the new wire and gas. From the box (again not sure if I trust it) it looks like E and then fart with the feed. Were you using E?

Mine was set at E and 4.5 it worked great.....and this was my first real big welding project.

You can always contact him directly. His name on here is dirtclod.

Finished mine up. Considering that I'm not too skilled of a fabricator, I was very pleased with the result. I have to say, it was quite a bit of work, especially since a lot of my welds were ugly and required significant grinding. But for the price, I'm happy. Also sticking with the tradition of doing everything myself on the rig (ok, I didn't set up the gears). Oh yeah, also just installed the Airflow Snorkel from DPG Offroad. Here's some pics:

Snorkel is Airflow from DPG Offroad

D30 Diff Cover in front is Baertrax Buttface

Hood Vent is Old School Chysler Lebaron

Fender Flares are cheapie Pacer Brand from Quadratec (love the fronts, hate the backs) - See my write-up in the Arizona Chapter section

Steering box brace is also Iron Scorpion

Thanks for the kind words guys. Had to have the snorkel, hydroed an engine a few months ago. All the work of late has been preparing for the National Event (hosted by the AZ chapter) coming up in March.

In the process of rear discs and if by some miracle of God I end up with some cash, I'll be looking at Super 30 kit with ARB or OX.
