Iron Rock Suspension

I think people buy the kit because they see the INSANE flex and want a cheap kit. And they will defend the crap out of it until they do have problems like 2doorxj and alexrule.... ditch it and then they will say yeah your right that kit is crappy.

Buy kit>defend kit>break kit>no longer defend kit.... and the trend continues with more people attracted by the cheap price

2 people with bent parts are far from a trend of broken parts. I've seen more tie rod ends actually fail, we should all be terrified of every car on the road right?

What slots? I would weld WASHERS and ditch the bracket. You guys just want to hate IRO. They are a good company with affordable products. Good for most people. Maybe not for hardcore but that is a small %.

I wouldn't say anyone here is hating on the company in this thread. They have very good customer service and have been easy to work with. I have their springs/steering/trackbar setup but choose not to go wtih their long arm kit b/c of what I've heard here. I instead went with the other 'cheap' alternative of the rough country kit which has it's problems with the joints which need to be replaced anywho...

Whats crazy is there are two sides to this Story . If you read the posts not everyone is agreeing on the subject. The system works great and is reliable . I have wheeled the bejesus on class 10 trails . The quality is outstanding. It is a very uncomplicated design making it easy to install and adjust . I have the had zero issues with Caster adjuster bracket. If it were going to fail it woudve already . I have broken other parts of the jeep but never have i need to be limped off any trail.

i just installed their long arm upgrade, install was easy other than problems with mounting up the crossmember since my jeep is 4cyl 5 spd...their customer service is by far the best. they kept checking up via email and phone to make sure everything was going good once we discovered the mounting was the issue.

pm me i have a few tips to make the x member mount bulletproof. Dependng on how hard you wheel you may want to replace upper control arm axle bushing from Rubber to A poly urethane. I wheel my rig pretty hard and have found that the rubber bushings wear out fast and deflect too much. Since switching to a A RUK Polly bushing havent had any problems. It is possibily noisier, but i could care less. same reason im not bothered by an open exhaust my 11 second Torino.

Here we go again, "it will fail, people will die". Do we have 1 example of this yet? No, I don't mean the 1 bent adjuster, that didn't actually fail. My wifes wj still runs the iro kit, wheels great and does fine. Done the rubicon and the dusy ershim no problems. Because of all the people who are convinced it won't hold up, I checkit regularly. No signs of wear or deformation. Holding up fine to 35's and a 4.7L v8 in the real world. Yes I have pictures to prove this. Is it a weird set up? Yes. Would an adjustabe link be stronger? Probably. Has anyone ever had a failure? Not that I've seen, and with the sheer number of you guys waiting to say I told you so, if there were one, it would be posted on every forum as soon as it happened. Great flex, good price, and excellent customer service. I say run it, definate upgrade over short arm re kit.

X2

Looking at both pictures, I would say that operator error and negligent maintenance was involved in the failure. Alex has a Nylock nut where he should have used a grade 5 or grade 8 hardware and locking nut, hardened washers, and thread lock compound.

In second picture twodoor has a unrated (?) bolt, no washers, and probably no thread lock.

Properly installed and maintained there is no reason the IRO long shouldn't just be fine. (Anybody neglect to re-check your hardware torque before/after each of the first few 4x4 trips ? )
Don't interrupt their product bashing with your logic!
