Introductions

Hi,

I'm Richard Gauthier (Goatman), and live in Bakersfield with my wife of 31 years (who wouldn't wheel with me if her life depended on it), and I have three grown daughters and two grandsons. I'm a used car manager at the local Ford dealership. I bought my first Jeep at 18, a '55 Willy's wagon with a SBC. My current rig is an '88 XJ "Cheromanche" with D44/Tera60, 37's, full cage, etc.

I enjoy organizing runs and events. I've been coordinator of three of the NAXJA Moab events, including last years XJ 20th Anniversary Celebration where we had 175 XJ's in Moab, and I organize an annual XJ trip on the Swamp Lake Trail every summer which we've been doing for six or seven years. I also organize the Best of the West XJ tours, which is a week of hard-core wheeling in a different location every year.

I have missed many of the SoCal runs because of my work schedule and the distance to many places from Bakersfield. I hope to get to a SoCal run soon so I can see old friends and meet all of you new folks. It's great to see so many new SoCal XJ'ers.

Tony aka Cherokid.

Not a kid on the outside but still very much one on the inside. (my 6 year old boy reminds me how fun it is.) I've got a beater 89/90 (per the dmv) limited that really isn't road worthy yet let alone trail worthy. I'm going through the big 'D' so funding is a challenge. Cut my 4 wheelin teeth on an 81 toyota truck and still kickin myself for selling it. This is my second xj first turned out to be junk, this one will work good. I'm looking to build it to do like my toy (wheel hard, look presentable, reliable like a clock) but more.... More power, more comfort, more versatility. Looking forward to meeting and wheelin with ya' all.

(I took my son out in the old xj a few years ago. He was all of about 2. Wound up on a STEEP ledge with my right front and left rear tires in the air and kind of teeter tottering. I asked him what he thought. He shouted, "GO GO GO!" ) He's coming along nicely. :D

Shannon, 26, Lancaster, Construction Manager

88' 4" pro comp/RE/tomkin/crusty/RRO lift, Bald 32's and missing some sheet metal.

Learned to wheel in a 74 Dodge Ram 2wd. Currently married for almost 4yrs to my high school sweet heart of 10+ yrs :smootch: , who happens to have our first turkey in the oven :rattle: . My wife loves to wheel with me :loveu: and is the reason why my jeep is covered in mud :guitar: . The wife and I love FOOTBALL and the Almighty Green Bay Packers and my jeep is a close second.

I am also a recovering smiley face addict... :gee:

Hey Guys, I'm Dan Turner....

Been wheeling almost since birth...I may have been born in a 42 Willys MB, or might as well have been. I'm 32 now. While the old flat fender jeeps are my first love, I seem to be driving the XJ a lot more than my CJ2A (350 SBC, SM420 trans, 44 front-60 rear, extended wheel base, 38 in swampers etc.)

Good to meet and wheel with you guys.

Dan

Hi Folks:

I'm Dean Birdsall (Xman) and my wife Michelle live in Crestline, Ca we have three boys Mathew(18), Patrick(5) and Ryan(3). I’m a Senior Network Engineer consultant. I have been wheeling with my dad since the late sixty and got my 1st jeep when I was around 20 it was a 1968 Jeep CJ-5 which I wheeled for over 15 years. We brought the 1998 XJ two years ago from my bro because he wanted an automatic and we needed more room for the young ones to go wheeling.

Bill, I drive a 93 4 door with 33's and about 6" lift, locker in the back a few other things to get me into and (hopefully) out of trouble.

I live in Valencia/Newhall area and work (currently) in Culver City. I'm the Dir of IT/InfoSec Officer for a online company with a series of websites and 250 employees.

I sometimes go by "4FOOTED" as that's what's on my license plate.

We need to have a SOCAL meet and greet with enough room for everybody to show up.

Well what the heck! I'll tell you a story too!

Im called Matt, but you already figured that! Hey that rhimes dont it?

I am 25 now and I live in Oceanside CA (North County part of San Diego). I dont work for anyone, anymore, but i used to be a Lead Network Admin. I got enough work to do with the XJ. I had a Jeep ever since i got my drivers lic. It was an light gold 86 Laredo 2 door 5 speed with a TBI 2.5L 4.11 gears that i bought at a salvage yard auction in Otay Mesa for $700. She only had 70k on the clock. I had put a 3" lift on it and i wheeled the hell out of it and i had put 100k miles on it. I then got a new ZJ laredo in 96 it had a 4.0 auto and 4x4 It was white but it should have been yellow cause it was a damn lemon! I sold that after two years of hell and I also sold my old XJ that now had 175k miles. I then strayed away from wheeling for about 5 years and drove around in a rice rocket. I really missed my XJ and wheeling. So i sold my ricer and came back with my current XJ that was a former Police vehicle. I then found this website and i joined Naxja and the mods have begun. I been out wheeling it alot. I even rolled it on its side on bronco at the last time out for LCIR and nothing hardly happened to it. Amazingly it just needed a new door. I was told a DVD of that is being made and will be coming out in a couple of weeks. Its been alot of fun and stuff but here we have reached the end!

Heres what shes got now:

Shiny Black Paint 4door w/ Factory Sun-Roof
GM 3.4L V6 (New Engine) Edelbrock Headers, Gutted Cat, Glasspack Muffler
REbuilt TF904 with B&M Transpak and shifter
NP 207 with RE Hack n' Tap SYE

THAT was the most amazing thing I've seen. Not one shard of glass, and the back window, HOW did it find the only soft spot there to land on?

If I remember, once you were back on your feet, you ran the rest of the day, like nothin' ever happened. . . . then drove it home.

Cheers!
