lovin those hood vents man

thanks, i get alot of compliments on them. theyre actually boat vents i got from a boat supply place near my house. i think they were like 10 bucks each or something. the only thing id like to do is make some sheet metal drain pans to redirect the water as one of them sits right over my cap and rotor. hasnt caused any issues yet but id just like to be on the safe side

Hi! I am Chris, I live in Jamestown NY. Figuered I would throw my hellos in so I don't get flamed later. I have about 3-4 years in Jeeps, with a built CJ7 under my belt, and now I am working on a Comanche.

My plans for the Comanche go something like this-
4.0, eventually rebuilt
AX-15
Dana 300
Dana 44 up front
Ford 9" out back
35" tires, still working on the brand

I just finished my custom OD green paint job, and I am moving to the next step. It'll be a big one, as it will include the tranny, transcase, axle swap, and everything involved.

Anyway, here I am!

Here's my into. I'm John and live in Philly. I bought this 98 classic with only 77k on it a couple of months ago. I had plans for it but lost my job soon after buying it. Soooo instead of jumping into the wheeling world head first, I'll do more reading and learn from others mistakes!!!!

Like the comanche, good luck with building it up, sounds like it will be sweet when you get done with it. I have a relative who is a voluteer firefighter in Jamestown. look forward to seeing that rig at rausch creek someday. welcome to the forum!

Well, I figured I should post up sooner, rather then later. I've been lurking in the shadows now for a little while, reading, learning and observing. I'm mechanicaly inclined, so as long as I have the tools and space, I will do most of the work on this thing as I can. No garage and no power tools (yet) will hinder this. I'm not new to modifying vehicles, but I am new to 4x4's and lifted rigs.

My name is Chris, live in Claremont, NH. I recently bought a 1995 2 door XJ, auto, already lifted 4.5 inches with what I'm calling a bastard child lift, the guy I got it from bought it with the lift already installed, had too many projects going. It came with the rack in the pictures and the rear bumper. 166k miles on it. The "frame" looks good, just need to patch the front passenger side floor sooner rather then later. Paid just $800 for it. Another $800 got me the new 15x8 wheels with 4 inches of bs and slightly used 33x12.5 BFG All Terrains from a somewhat local shop. Other then that, axles, gears and steering appear to be stock.

I did have to replace the driver's outside handle so that you could open the door from the outside. And the driver's upper hinge need to be rewelded to the pillar.

Future plans:

-front tow hooks (temp. so I can hit the trails until I get the bumper)
-front bumper with hidden winch under the radiator
-front sway bar dc's
-selectable lockers f + r (think both f+r is welded right now, will find out soon when I pull the covers during full fluid changes)
-fender trimming and installing tj flares (already have)
-driving / fog lights
-mud terrains before next winter
-matching wheel for spare
-sliders and misc skid plates
