Introduce yourself

Hello all,

Names Chris. From Guilford, CT.
Here are some specs on my XJ:
-2000 4.0L with 99 cylinder head
-AW4, NP231 w/ PORC SYE and front driveshaft
-LP Dana 30, 3.55s
-8.25, 3.55s
-31" MTRs
-3" Rustys lift w/ Edelbrock shocks and RE adjustable lowers
-RE HD trackbar and bracket

and other misc goodies
 
This rig might look familiar to a few people, picked up this '97 XJ a couple weeks ago from rain76king, who bought it a year ago (?) from xjbump. Here's a few pics that king had when it was posted for sale, it still looks about the same, except now its sporting Canyon's and a set of brandy new 31" shoes

End of the month she's going in for minor surgery, including a LockRite in the D30, JCR Super Sliders, upper and lower ball joints, unit bearings and six new u-joints. Also bolting on the skid that came with it and find that vacuum leak that keeps my heater on defrost, and a new resistor plug thing so I have more than one fan speed (HIGH!!!!!!!) Gotta get her ready for her first snow run in March!

That's a lot of work for one day but I posted up for a wrenchfest on my club boards (Baystate Jeepers) and within 24 hours, I had 4 people lined up and offering to help. Two of them are experienced in the ways of the Jeep and two others can turn a wrench and know lefty-loosey and righty-tighty, so I should be in pretty good shape

In-the-near-future plans include a a gas tank skid (if you have one, I'm interested!) and POSSIBLY a winch bumpah...... or at least a bumpah with D-rings. This won't see any hard-core stuff, it's going to see easy-wheelin and occasional tow-rig duty, pulling my TJ. Look forward to seeing you on the trails!

Thanks Carl MC...unfortunately its our only vehicle as of right now so we can't really afford to wheel it. Let me know if you need a hand wrenching. I'm mechanically minded, know how to turn a wrench or two and know how to kill a six pack in the process.

Good to know! And here's my shameless plug for U-Do-It garage in Nashua NH. I found these guys through another Jeep forum and the bottom line is, if you need to rent a bay in a heated garage, with a lift and tools, this is the place to go! The rates are more than reasonable AND they have an ASE cert mechanic that's on site and available to help if you need it

I've been up there a few times and this weekend, 4 rigs from my club are all renting bays this Saturday, having a big wrench fest. They have common hand tools and not so common tools - sawz-all, welding torches, ball joint press, tire machine, air tools,.... and if you want a flat bay (no hydraulic lift) it's half price! There's nothing like a warm garage and a hydraulic lift
 
wow that sounds awesome.... that would be great for someone like me who lives in the city and has no space. I've done a ton of consulting work up in Nashua never saw the place.

Right around the corner from Dartmouth-Hitchcock MC, between the Meineke and McDonalds. Pretty sure it's East Hollis St. First hour is $30 and $20 per after that. And a flat bay (no hydraulic lift) is half that. 2.5 hrs only set me back $60 and the mechanic helped me out torching off some bolts, that was no additional charge. And professional advice / opinions are free too!

Great guys, Casey and Jerry own the place. Tell em Carl sent you. It won't get you anything but I promised I'd spread the word :compwork:

Hello all -

New to the Jeep scene - have been a devoted Bronco user for several years but I think it is time to make the switch. Picking up my first project tomorrow or Tuesday and will post pictures then.

Well, I made it here. Took me long enough. :wierd:



As always, things are screwy here in this corner of the world. Gotta give a thanks to Shelbyluvv & Andy for helping me get the sponsor thing going.


There's not a whole of of exciting things for me to share right now. With the economy being what it is --- I have taken the time to work on my own vehicle between customers & other projects. Project TechSnob in the modified section is the currently "stalled" build up of my XJ.


Although I am willing to work on all kinds of 4wd ... Jeeps have become my specialty (hey ... the most common by far). MufflerBearing/Chris has my old '89 XJ .... owned that thing since 1992. Working on these things FAR too long. :o


I run a fab & outfitting shop in the Northeast corner of PA ... and try my best to knock my customers out with service, skill, and a bit of abuse. :laugh2:


My website will be revamped eventually .. waiting to see if my newest web guy actually does something ...... But to give you an idea ... I can do it from mild-to-wild with any point inbetween to meet your budget. Given today's economy, more customers want to try it themselves and that's where I can help. I can supply you the parts and I am not afraid to supply the information/experience needed to get you past your sticking points and DIY. Gears, welding, suspension install or design, driveline work .... my hand goes into everything. And it usually comes out greasy & smelly. :tears:


As for me ... I'm just an average 35 year old guy that's been working on jeeps since I was 17 years old. Trouble is ... I don't know what I want to do when I grow up. By & large .. I'm very outdoor oriented. Been taking advantage of all the snow to go snowshoeing with my wife. We also do a lot of hiking & climbing as time allows. Mtn Biking & road biking are also hobbies of mine if I'm not buried in work or fixing something else that broke.


Once my Jeep is wrapped up ... I want to be more active with the 4wd communities this year. And NAC seems like a good regional place to start. Thanks in advance for all welcomes, abuses, and get losts that I receive from the NA guys. :)

It's on Rte 115 in Blakeslee (maybe 5 min from Jack Frost & Big Boulder ski resorts)




Figure 50 min from Allentown ... 30 min from the Water Gap .... 2 hours from Philly

cool, m in summit hill: about 50min from allentown 2hours from philly n maybe hour from gap. maybe we not to far apart.......

i want to replace my roof over the driver/passenger seats. i floppd at rausch a while ago n tweeked it enuff that the windshield doesn't fit. i need a windshield in it so i can drive her on the road now n then.........no bondo or fancy paint, no pretty needed on my rig. am fully caged, so structure is not an issue either......interested in this job at all? -Sean
 
Ttakes me 20-25 min to get to Lehighton or Jim Thorpe (depending if i go down 903 or down Maury Rd). Add whatever time it takes for you to get to that downtown area.


That sounds like a job for a body man ... not me. :laugh2: You haven't seen my thin metal "handi work"


PM me your number and a time to call .... maybe we can figure something out that can get the basics started for you. Then you can tweak it on your own time to the level of sloppy that you want it? :roflmao:

I think business did well before Paragon closed. Nearly everyone from points north & east passed me enroute to Hazleton.


But Paragon closed and now most folks go to Rausch Creek, thereby taking different highways. Add the current economic situation to the mix, and any intelligent person can see these are trying times.



I also think good work & fair prices are worth driving for. Therefore ... I don't care what you think. :wave:

It's hard to judge anything online ... and not everyone is always welcoming of the newest parts pimps. :rolleyes:



If you check Blakeslee on a google/bing/mapquest ... I'm really not that far from "civilization." Wilkes Barre & Hazleton are 30 min away. Scranton is 45 min away. Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton are roughly an hour away. One hour east of me puts you well into NJ (pretty populated state, if I'm remembering correctly).



Perhaps I'm being a hard azz .... but when people look before they leap, someone is bound to call them out on it. :laugh2: I don't doubt Brad/Hammered is a good fellow --- but sometimes a bit of restraint does good. :cool:
