Introduce yourself

Hey guys. I was just looking back, and I realized I never "officially" introduced myself on NAC. I have been very active on NAXJA since I have bought my 97 sport in November. I am starting to get to familiarize some names around here, so I hope to get to know a lot of you. Can't wait for a good wheeling season this year!

I'm currently looking for an entry level engineering job, and have been keeping myself entertained with the XJ... just doing some "cheap" modifications, such as budget lift (1.75" lift) 30" tires, and other goodies... mostly installing equip from my previous rig.

I used to wheel this:

Once motor, transmission, and steering were BARELY still alive, cash-for-clunkers took her away from me, and I put the cash toward the XJ, and my unemployed ambitions haha.

So, November rolled around, and after over a month of looking around, I found my XJ waiting for me in VA. She has some battle wounds from a wreck in 2000, and was owned by a smoker. Good news though, it was garage kept! (99% rust FREE!) So, here she is as she sits today in my drive way:

Today, I just finished up CB install, re-upholstered headliner, and new rear hatch struts (and put an old one on the hood!) I still have yet to install the light bar, and roof basket. Tow hooks for front coming soon as well. Thanks for reading!

:wave1:looking good so far. i like the fogs integrated into the bumper. what light did you end up using for that?

Harley Davidson motorcycle driving lights haha no joke! they were in the random junk pile in the garage... so thought I could give them another shot at life :looney: I'm happy with them, they just need aimed better! haha

nice ingenuity they go really well.

Tow hooks for front coming soon as well.
might i suggest looking into getting D-ring shackles in the place of the actual hooks. general concensus is that d-rings are safer and better, and id have to agree from personal experience. i had a snatchstrap bounce off a towhook under load as i was pulling a buddy out of a swamp

I think business might be better if you were a little closer to Civilization.

i agree on civilization! i moved to this hole in the country a little over 4years ago, hating most of it......being 25minutes from Paragon was one of the few things that made it ok......then they took it away :hang:

i like rausch, but not as much as Paragon, i don't go there as much, it's further away. it looks like they're doing some great things over there these days, though.

i watched a show on the "badlands" last nite, i didn't know that Kyle, (previous owner of Paragon) bought it. good for him, they knocked him down, but didn't take him out of his game....

i also agree that it is hard to take another's meaning from text, let's not fight guys, we should all be on the same team. if we are less-united, "THEY" are gona take it all away and this hobby that we love will only be a memory..........like "Paragone"

As much as I would like to go with D-rings, I have not yet seen anything out there that fits to a stock uni-body? If there is, please enlighten me!

What kind of fishing are you looking to do? I grew up fishing all over the downingtown, west chester, exton area and beyond. It can get crowded, but there are still some not-so-well-known spots.

If you want to trout fish, get a good topo map of the area - find all the trout streams on the map - find the places that are as far away from any roads that you can find - go exploring! Check out French Creek, Valley Creek, West Valley Creek, East Branch of Brandywine, West Branch of Brandywine, Pickering Creek.

Hello all - long time reader, just signed up.
I'm Josh, living in Morgantown, WV now working in Waynesburg, PA.

I just picked up my third XJ, a '98 sport, for $1100, no pictures yet.
A few spots of rust to care of but over all not bad.
