Internal or external cage???

Thinking about building a cage. Just built a homemade tubing bender and am wanting to try it out! Fabbed up a couple of pieces, and just can't decide which way to go. The jeep is totaled bought back from insurance 1999 4 door, with MAJOR fender trimming 35 12.50 on 2-3" lift. I removed most of the dash thinking of tying into the firewall instead of the floor for the interior A pillar if I go that route. Any thoughts or pictures on that would be appreciated. If I go exterior wondering on how to go about tying to the thin frame like member under the jeep? Do you need to plate it like you would an interior cage going to the floor or is it stout enuff to weld the cage straight to? Or how about plateing the whole frame rail with metal more suitable to weld to?Sorry for all the questions, have built 2 stock cars before so I know a little about what I'm doin, just need more info before I go any further!

Build the exo if:
you're one of the 50% that think they look good
you don't mind the exta weight
you want to protect a pretty new paint job
you're concerned about bumping the roof at Sonic

Build internal if:
you're one of the other 50%
you think form follows function
you take your wheelin' seriously
you can spell diagonal

Tie into the firewal and the floor and everywhere else you can. If you go exo, it looks like most guys tie into rock rails on the side and bumpers at the ends for the lower attachment points. Most rock rails have plates screwed into the frame rails and attach along the rocker panel pinch seam. Sometimes to the spring hanger as well.

I think an external cage is worthless without interior "geometric help".....

... plus multiple attachment points to the roof or drip rails as well as other areas of the body.
