Important

Thanks. I'll keep that in mind. I always shop deep South or South West. Well worth the drive out of the rust belt

A school bus conversion is still in my mind. Better plumbing, wiring, insulation, annual state inspections and service records. Custom floor plan. Seems worth the extra work.

Beats mac's 10k reasons why I shouldn't buy a motor home also. Bus chassis are stupid simple.

8 grand will take the hauler home.

it needs love, but is mechanically sound.
the interior is rough but usable.
big cat under the hood, 9 speed.

Ugghhh....heater core is leaking in the Expo. The garage just called and wants $850 to do it. Looks like I get to invest a weekend in this project now.

This thing is awesome! Who owned/owns this?

Not that new. Id prefer a class A for the size. I think 8-10k is my range. If i cant swing a deal at that then ill just build a bus

Don't tow a Jeep on a trailer with a class A unless you put some effort into beefing up the frame. Your run of the mill class A,B, or Cs are not rated to tow over 5,000 pounds. You will twist the frame and the doors screw things up.
Trust me....

Thor rates all of their stuff for 8k.

I'm not looking to buy someone else's headache so I'm straying from the motor homes. They just are not built to last. I will build a bus that will be more suitable for our needs. This will be a full time residents for a time before I get our house built not so much a dedicated tow rig or camper.

Wheeler why did you sell the bus?

If your primary reason is to love in it while you finish your house, get a used travel trailer and sell it when you are done with it. You will be tired of it and won't want to camp in when you are finished. I know of three people, my self included that did as you plan and ended up selling.

This is pretty good advice. Afaik, all of those buses don't have a full functioning bathroom with running water and a shower. That is the stuff that really sucks with fabricating a bus/trailer/truck. If you are living in it, you'll want water and sewer and such. Building a project sounds fun and awesome, but look through the trailer and towing forum on pirate and you'll find more unfinished projects than finished projects. I don't know what your time frame is (Weren't you leaving before winterfest at one point?), but taking on a bus/truck project is a big undertaking to do it right.

There are thousands of trailers out there forsale. Lots of good deals, you could probably find a nice one for $10k. Yeah you'll need a truck, but you need a truck anyways. Trailers are a good bang for the bunk. Plus you can live or love or play basketball in them with little setup.

All good reasoning. Ill keep looking. My 1500 ram will have to do the job. The whole point of all this is to stay debt free. I have a pole building and can do whatever work is needed. Just doing it all cash, so when i find some land i can pay cash for it also.

Debt free, the only way to be.

Being dept free is over rated, if you don't get in a bunch of debt issues how is the government supposed to bail you out?:D

Like nate said the green bus is straight pimp on the inside now including a shower.....but who needs a shower since god invented wet wipes?

Wet wipes...keeping husbands cleaner than when they left to see their girlfriends!

so everyone wants to know about RC cars.
Well rather their wives all do.

If you want a good cheap car

buy one of those, make sure it's brushless.
buy some of these
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-1600mah-2s-20c-lipo-pack-losi-mini-compatible.html
and a charger
https://hobbyking.com/en_us/imax-b6-ac-dc-charger-5a-50w-with-us-plug-copy.html

they are cheap to get parts for and pretty damned durable. i'd go short course truck because big numpers and a body that covers all the suspension stuff. Keeps you from breaking things when you crash and cartwheel it hard.

this is the one that I had in the quarry

Then add $150 a pair for batteries and a much larger charger.
