Important

Just to jump on the F Menards bandwagon, I went there with my buddy last night to pick up the material for his new HUGE wrap around deck and it was all ordered in advance n supposed to be ready upon arrival. We showed up with two 1-ton dually trucks with a 25 &32' trailer due to there being 24,400# of material. We showed up at 7:45pm and nothing was ready. They close at 10, we were still loading in the yard at 11pm. The manager would not give us a discount or free delivery....my buddy called higher up today, heads rolled! F that shithole.

Menards is the best choice for me, for some stuff at least. I would never trust their employees to pick lumber for a job I gave a shit about. If it's not something I want to load myself, I'll order it from one of two real lumber companies in my area.

Power tools- no Makita or Dewalt? I know Dewalt sued the crap out of them when their old crap generic brand tools used the black and yellow color scheme. Not sure why no Makita, but wouldn't be surprised if it's something similar.

I won't detail everything I buy there and elsewhere, but I will admit that having their store less than a mile from my house has been a huge plus. But now that Crook County, and our retarded local citizens have raised our sales tax to 10%, I've been buying more stuff from HD and Lowes, and other Menards stores in Will County, where most of my jobs currently are.

I bought some boards to build a swing set frame in February during the 11% off sale and went and got it today from the lumbar yard. Some of the boards are so warped, I went through 10 2x6x10's before I found the two I needed. 4x4's were a bit easier. Might have to try Lowes sometime. Is Home Depot any better? We don't have one but I give it time before we do.

7AM-4PM M-F and 4 hours on Saturday? Closed Sundays? That doesn't work at all for me. Can I go to ABC tomorrow afternoon, or Monday evening, and pick up 300 various sized 2x4s for the basement job my customer suddenly decided they want to go ahead with?

It's all relative, want great service, top quality materials? It's gonna cost ya, in dollars, or time. Sometimes it worth it, other times not.

Whew, tonighTs project was tearing apart this machine that's held together with 2 1/4 bolts. It has to be heated when taking it apart to make the plastic soft. So it was 700+ degrees. Impact didn't move a single bolt. Yours truly and a 5ft cheater bar on a 2 1/2 ft wrench

This was after we got done eating the steaks and potatoes that we grilled up in the shop.

I'm pooped:hang:

Anyone that has taken a business class has learned this. You can have it fast, you can have it cheap, you can have quality. Pick 2 of the 3, cause you can't have all 3.

I asked my buddy if he trusted them to pick the boards for such a big project n knowing he would get some shitty ones mixed in, he told me he ordered 10% more of every size so he can try n weed out the crap that was unusable. With the ad that was going at Menards he saved over 4k than using our one little local lumber yard. We have been getting about everything else locally n trying to keep our little guys going.

They were much better before they closed their contractor's department. I trusted them to pick out lumber. Now they don't give a shit about contractor's. They cost me $2000.00 on one job alone in November because they messed up the materials list I gave to quote. The brands they sell now are complete garbage. "Smart Electrician"? I wouldn't put that crap in a customer's house. The people working at the former contractors desk don't know shit from shinola. So fEm
I go to Home Depot a lot more now. Their quality is better and they still have a contractor's department staffed with knowledgeable people. Lowes sucks too.

is that a CRV?

them things go for stupid money. Like Rav4's.

I don't understand the fascination with buying small AWD cars that get crap mileage and have no useable cargo space.

Pretty dang clean. Supposedly has mechanical issues. Found and fixed one last night. Need to drive it to see what else is up.

For the Honda purest...this one was made in Japan.

Haha the farther south the better for me.

But it sometimes is annoying that I am just a couple weeks away from my electrical degree but I'm doing about 75% mechanical work.
I mean, I'm still using stuff I learned in school but this is a mostly mechanical job here.
