Important

in Ohio a trailer with an empty weight of less than 1500 lbs does not require a title. Only a weigh slip to register.

I'd look into that, and then make sure that whomever weighed it understood that it needed to weigh less than that....

That would be nice. All trailers in Indiana have titles for them to be played.

Well looks like I might be going to get an old camper tonight to turn into a trailer to haul Jeep on. Only thing is it doesn't have a title. Just bill of sale. Anybody have any experience getting a new title or Vin for trailers?

I will text you later.

that's a bummer.
aside from having to get titles notarized (which isn't really that big a deal) Ohio is pretty lenient with titles/plates and such.

when I converted the wienerbox they didn't even inspect it. I paid $3 at the title office and signed an affidavit.

I started to type it all out until I saw Mac's reply.

Just make sure the camper frame is strong enough to make into a flatbed. Most campers are made light and flimsy and usually aren't good candidates for a car hauler.

I was gonna add in some steel in parts to reinforce it. It's an older camper so hoping it's made a little stronger than ones today are.

DO a price comparison before you buy the camper to make sure your not getting in over the price of a new trailer. I can get a new 18' 5000k H&H or Hull for about 2100$. I'm all about doing cheap, unless its a trailer with my rig on it going 70 down the highway. But I have also seen some really good camper trailer converts that blow any store bought trailer away.

Well I ended up passing on the camper trailer. Could have gotten it for $200. Just didn't know if it would have been strong enough to hold jeep so decided to pass.

Heading to Iowa with in the hour.

Looked up antique archeology in Le Claire, think we might try to swing by if we get through shitcago traffic ok.
