I liked the mechanical Novak linkage, but I could have done a better job installing it. In that Jeep I didn't really care about aesthetics

in most places they own the meter.
that's how they can make it a criminal matter if you tamper.
goes both ways, it also means they're on the hook for the maintenance.
I'd bury it and then be all "what?"

My meter is right inside the fence, the fence is only about 4' and the gate can easily open. This winter, we still got estimated bills. I still don't think we used the electricity we said we did, but possible since the emergency heat was on over the heat pump.
they will not open a fence, period.

It's in a dumb spot. I wouldn't be able to fence in much of the yard if I made it accesable.

We have the RFID meter for our electric. I can view our day-to-day usage online, which is handy.

Water, electric, gas all on on RFID. No more meter readers, except some guy in a truck driving around.
They didn't think that my gas was being used as much as it should've been two winters ago, they replaced my meter and then sent me an estimated bill for what they thought it used while it wasn't working.
That didn't go over well.

I have run them a few times over the years.
The hardest are the ones that use the same pedal with different sides of the pedal to go both forward and reverse....

Missed the AW4 used in certain rare early 93 4.0 ZJs. Those guys are lucky, they have a good transmission.
