Important

Going back to those links that mac posted about the novak shifters, is the main difference between the to keeping the stock shifter?

looks like the linkage design you have to have a new shifter and the cable design to keep the OE shifter...

advantage to either?

The cable shifter retains the factory handle and shift pattern.

The linkage replacement reverses the shift pattern and requires you to remove the stock handle and bend up a new handle through the hole in the floor.

I have had both; linkage on the 91 and cable on the current 95. The linkage is more of a pain to install and I was never happy with how the handle turned out. The cable shifts great and looks stock, which is what I try to go for anymore.

This is what I hacked together on the 91 with the linkage:

^AGREED. We have installed both at the shop....My jeep has the cable...works great but a PIA to set up with a 242 being the extra shift gate......

Trying to redo the drainage around the house, figured I would give the gas company a heads up that I want to put some dirt around the house and they need to raise the meter. They want to charge me 281 to do so, I said good luck getting a reading if they don't move it......they are going to call me back.

I have never seen the point in the cables, I've never had one that shifted super hard or not at all though.

My linkage bound up and then finally broke in Harlan. Cables are smooth with no bind.

My linkage on my first XJ bent double due to rust weakening it and binding up the bushings... the one in the XJ is decent atm and the custom-ish setup I put in the MJ is still working.

I have a mcmaster shopping cart put together with 90% of the stuff I need to go cable shift however.

at 1st i thought the beefy shifter would be cool. and if i could find a similar design for the trans shifter that would be cool also.

then you posted that pic...

i will look into getting that cable if the linkage turns out to be the issue.

you just did :twak:

It could have been a lot better, but I didn't have the patience to heat and bend the rod perfectly to get it lined up just right. You will have to source a boot for it or stare at the ground.

I had a way better set up in the baby jeep than the pic that byron posted...

lol.

I had a fight with them over putting an electronic sender on mine. It's in the basement, so about every 3 months we'd go round with what they "estimated" we'd used and what the actual numbers on the meter said, one lady called me a liar. Of course this was after new windows and such were installed, so our usage was drastically cut. They told me that they wanted to charge me $100 to install the electronic guts in my meter.

I told them they owned that meter in my basement, and that if they would like us to continue paying for gas they'd come and replace the guts, or we'd let the PUCO know about their habit of overbilling their customers and intimidating them on the phone.
They showed up the next week, swapped it for free and now they get the data with a fancy RFID looking scannery thing.

gas company rates lower than electric for me. I hate columbia gas.

I have been fighting with my electric company about my meter being in the backyard (was there when I bought the place), so they have to go through a fence.

Last fall the estimated for 4 months and then hit me with a $800 bill. I was furious, ended up paying like $400. Now this year I haven't paid for three months because the over estimated.

They won't move the dang thing though.
