Important

Finally made it back in the gym at 4am this morning, after taking about 2 months off.

no weights, just running. i do not like running. i do not understand hardcore runners that claim they get a high out of it. it hurts, its tiring, it makes be gasp for air, it sucks.

i like weight training. i get a high from it. i feel great after moving heavy weight. lay me on the bench, put my face under a few under pounds, and crank up the music.

there is a debate between some of my fitness friends on weather you burn more cals doing cardio or weight training. cardio, thats what you burn right there. weight training, you are burning all day long because your muscles are rebuilding.

meh, i will stick to weight training.

good morning jeep fans!

the reality is you need both to loose weight and trim your body...the more muscle you have, the more calories it takes to power those muscles. you do burn the most calories doing cardio, but if you never strengthen your muscles you may never get to a point where your body is burning as many calories as you need to make a significant difference. the program i did last year (which i miss every day) was 6 days a week rotating cardio/strength training. eating better with it caused me to loose a ton of weight in a hurry, but when i plateaued, i needed to build my muscles up more so i could burn more calories when i worked out...

if you are looking for good cardio thats not running, look for kick boxing or boxing classes. its fun, a good stress relief and it burns as many calories as running if you push yourself. i've never sweat so much in my life, and it always felt good after class

With a stock engine, i wouldn't waste my time. If it were a built stroker though, i would think the extra air coming i would benefit you.

surprisingly, this.

unless you've done head work/stroker if you run the numbers the stock TB is more than capable of providing enough flow for a 4.0 @ WOT.

yes, I have done the maths.

So this little thinkpad is just fine. core 2 duo and 2 GB of ram will make a dandy mapping system in the jeep.

Who's got a good program for GPS road navigation in windows 8?
right now it's looking like streets and trips is the front runner for the most comprehensive and recent maps.

Already got topo mapping sorted. Need to get me a cheap USB GPS receiver that I can mod inside this things case so it has internal GPS.

What, you think I haven't learned anything over the years? :D

He's got a windows tablet that comes with a usb port. USB gps receivers are cheap, like 15 bucks. It limits his device usage, but if he's only using the one tablet as a gps, it's a much less expensive option.

I went with an iPad because I use it like an iPad and as a gps in the vehicle. Apple doesn't put usb ports in them, so you're stuck with some sort of wireless gps receiver. The bad elf one lets my kids connect and see where we're going on their iPods, so it has kind of that cool factor if you have kids on a road trip. But it's $125, so it has to be worth it if you want one.

Nate doesn't have kids and he's got a tablet with a cheaper option, so he probably doesn't need the bennies of a more expensive gizmo.

red 'a geek before nate was a geek' heep

I want more info on this tablet setup, I might do one for my jeep depending on how it works out. Or a mini itx board stuffed inthe console or glove box and a touch screen mounted somewhere.

Print servers for a small home/business network type setup. Two 1012s and a 1020. Each next to it's own computer but I want to be able to print to any of them from any computer on the network.
Am i better off with a jetdirect server for each (something like a 310x [j6038a]), Windows printer sharing, or something different?
Really hoping I can talk sis and Jed into letting me set up a network, their current way of doing things sucks. I may do a server for backups too.

what Josh said about being cheap, but also becaue I lose things or don't charge them.

Hacking a USB GPS receiver into this things chassis just makes it an integrated solution with less wires and PITA. More importantly it means I won't forget the GPS receiver.

I looked at it today and I can shove the PCB into a spot that avoids the screen and will put it in the upper right corner of the chassis when it's mounted in a car.
Can't put it in te screen bezel because of the rotating hinge jobby.
Looks like I can tap into the unused MPCIE slot for D+ and D-, so I won't lose an external USB port.

deskjet or laserjet printers?

laserjet 1000 series are host based, so they don't work well with print servers.

nate...any chance you know how to hack a microsoft usb gps reciever? i'm going to get a tablet to run obdII software and a gps eventually and i already have a microsoft reciever thats a 4-5 years old

Laserjets. I hate inkjet printers. lol
I got one 1012 for free and I only paid like 20 bucks for the other 1020, still need to find another 10XX printer (want to use the same cartridges in all).

I looked at HPs site and it listed the compatible print servers.

Im thinking Windows printer sharing is the best/easiest, but Ive never dealt with that before and dont know if it sucks.

Need to figure out what to do for network too (if theyll let me set one up). Three seperate buildings and nowhere to really run ethernet.

If you need me to kman I can go measure the drums that came off our 2000 xj with the 8.25. I'm thinking it's the 10" drums

I can go outside too. Thanks bud

Wheel cylinder blew on the baby jeep today. So I know the brakes are toast. Vice gripped the hose shut so she can get to work tommorow. Haven't found anything local for ZJ disks

compatible jet directs that cost a ton of money and work like shit.

laserjet 1xxxs don 't get along well with print servers.
I was making a host based laserjet's work with dos programs and terminal servers before you had a license to drive.

Yea I'm hoping to hit the junk yard Saturday morning to look for some disk brake zj's

Let me know what you find and how much. I'm guessing I'm doing these brakes this weekend.

Her sister and brother in law want to pay for her gas to drive to Mississippi for spring break. So I need to change the iffy wheel bearing out, do brakes and an oil change
