I plan on it tonight. Can I gift a membership to someone easily without having to give them the money (like Jeepforum could)?

Send paypay money to [email protected] with a note and pm membership with a note so they can tie the two together.

Correct.
10" are the 10x1.75 shoes. These were used on most early XJs.
9" are the 9x2.5" shoes which came when Chrysler took over.
I don't know the breakout of years, but the 2001 at question will have the 9" brakes.

You want the 9" brakes over the 10". I don't know why I see the notes about the 10" on police packages as the 10" brakes were not that great.

No... the 10 inch brakes are not that much better than the 9 inch ones.

The police package thing though is not correct either. During the AMC era, there was a check box right on the order form for the larger brakes. It wasn't package specific.

The 88 Fleet XJ, I had had the 10 inch brakes on it. But it originally belonged to the Montana Forestry Dept.

If anyone remember Gil, I have the original axle from his Jeep known as Skanky April. It also has the 10 inch brakes. I don't know if it was any kind of a fleet order model or not.

I also had a two XJs ordered through the USPS program for rural contract delivery drivers. The 91 had the 9 inch brakes. The 92 had 10 inch brakes on it. The gentlemen who ordered it said he had ordered it with larger brakes as he wanted better stopping as it was replacing a worn out CJ for his delivery route. He said he was pretty disappointed in its braking with the larger drums.

My 90 XJ has the 9 inch drums and its a Laredo model.

I have the original order sheet for my Comanche. On it is the check box to select the brake drum size. There are three options. the 9 inch drums, the 10 inch drums and the HD axle(Dana 44).

Clear as mud now?

Just gave this guy a NAXJA card, maybe he will visit us.

Well my 18 year old nephew got an XJ. A somewhat clean 99 sport that has a power drivers seat and the OC? It's got good floor pans, and good rockers, but there is some holes in the rear lower quarters, and for some reason the rear bumper is all rusted out. Sad to say, but I wander how long till it's a scrap heap. Oh well more parts for me I guess.....

Well that didn't take long. Bought another 99 today for $120 (Is what I'll have in it after the ins pays the tow yard). It's got a good drivetrain and a decent interior.

Renewed until next year. Any midwest people not red?

I need someone to tell me im crazy! After the firehouse purchase fell through I found a historic 20k sq ft warehouse I am now looking to buy to turn into a garage plus living quarters. The building I am looking at was originally a building from the operation and maintenance of a cable car around 1900.

If I get it I could overtake Mac as having the most garage space in the MWC Chapter.

You're crazy, but in the right way.

Just make sure you can get it rezoned as partially residential before you buy... or you may get some interesting questions from the inspector if things go wrong at any point and they get involved.
