Everybody always gives dodge trucks a bad name cuz of the tranny. Yes some have tranny problems but must are good trucks. Between me and my dad we have had 6 of them and have only had to put tranny's in 2 of them.

That's a 33% failure rate. I'd be concerned about that.

Scheduled a month a go to help a guy change his axle shafts ujoints...

He was supposed to be here at 7...

Still not here...I went out of my way to work him in...

Offered to let the scouts use my trailer for the holiday parade in town this saturday about 2 months ago. Got told that they didn't want to use it because it didn't have rails and they already had everything lined up.

Got an email yesterday asking if my trailer was still available because their plans fell through. Emailed them back and told them it wasn't.

I'm going to VA this weekend to work and me and my trailer are a package deal.

He showed up at 930...

Did axle shaft ujoints and valve cover gasket on a 99 XJ with 133k...everything is original up front but came apart rather well...done in two hours...

It's a classic with painted flares and black rust free...

I'd like to own it, nice XJ...

Doing shots now, he paid in whiskey...

I call BS on anyone in a 8-10,000 lb diesel truck who says they consistently get 20+ mpg. I can make my truck get that kind of mileage if I drive 45 mph to work, but all those figures are just people blowing smoke. Compare apples to apples, the way you drive every day.

I would tend to agree with this statement for the most part. I have a friend that runs a hotshot business and he always bragged up the mpg on his fleet...all Dodges w/ 6 speeds. Claimed to be getting 25mpg on complete trips running 70+, now that I call BS on. I have put @ 15-20K on this truck and the dream-o-meter is typically off by about 2mpg. I have calculated my mpg based off of fuel consumption and GPS'd milage at the RTK rate (sub meter accurate within inches) and driving like Miss Daisy (under 70, 60 is the sweet spot) I have pulled a full trip at the 23mpg mark, that was unloaded. Like you said, that is not my normal driving style, nor is that consistent. Can it get it, yes, is it likely to all the time, hell no. Tank to tank and how we use it, even including idle times loading and unloading etc, it is a solid 15-16. I honestly dont purchase vehicles based on fuel economy, I get what I want or like, plain and simple. If fuel is a concern of someone being able to afford a vehicle, then they truely cant afford that vehicle to start with...just like the guys that bitch about not being able to afford $100 oil changes on their diesels.....that being said, my Dodge creates its own fuel and spits out winning lotto numbers too :D

Had a tough few days, it is hard to see grandparents not be like they used to. It was really hard with my grandpa after his wreck and before he passed to see him go from this person who could do almost anything to someone who just sits and watches tv. Mt grandma is 85 and a little over a year ago moved out of the house I live in to a senior living apartment. Lately she falls quite a bit and I think my family might have talked her into an assisted living place. She (and the family) is constantly afraid she will fall and the only help she has is lifeline which calls family or fire dept. When she does. Luckily since my grandpa was in wwII, it won't cost her extra over of her normal monthly income to go to one. She won't gain money in her checking account like she now though.

The reason I think she is really considering it is because on my way up to see trans siberian orchestra yesterday, my cousin called. Though the phone was breaking up, it sounds like I get a jeep mod next week. The daily driver one (2009 accord with leather seats, xm radio, sunroof, 29k on it, and no car payment). Find out for sure on monday when I take her to the doctor. Car insurance will go up for a month and a half (when I get married, I am switching to farm bur. Where sarah is insured at. Being married+multi car+ house policy= cheap insurance). Plus the accord gets upper 20's in town and low to mid 30's highway. I wanted the car anyway I could and her driving scares me. She has already hit one car (minor damage that was fixed) and backed into another van (a few paint chips on the bumper) so I try to drive her places when I can.

Jeep will go to liability and only be driven in snow or to off road. I will have a garage at sarahs parents to park and work on it in.

Flex and byron, probably head your way next Saturday. Can I get to columbus from vincennes?

I hit 23mpg with my comanche (4.0, aw4, 2wd, 225s) with 3/4 ton of cargo in the bed, when it was stock. With 200k+ on the clock :spin1:

I regularly see 20mpg in my XJ on 25" rubber, automatic, hanging around 2900-3000rpm at 80mph or stuck in stop and go traffic on my daily commute.

Pretty sure I could hit 23-25mpg in a Cummins but I'm not willing to rebuild the autos (my family has horrible luck with the 4xRE series...) and I'm not willing to pay the premium for the manual OR the spark plug delete option, so I won't ever get one.

I will be in Indy, but I can PM you the address of the shop where the leafs and spacers are.

Yes. You can take the country way and go through Bloomington, or just take 50 to Seymour and go up 65 to Columbus.

I used to get consistently +-20 mpg with my 7.3. Winter fuel and maintenance issues have dropped that down to around 16 or so. This last tank I only got 11, but it ran most of the day becaise it was so cold out side this week. The highest I saw was 16*.
I need to get some work done on it.
