What engine/tranny skids and t case skids are you using?

I ran a Rusty's engine/trans skid when I had short arms. Nice skid and it was beefy. I took it off when I went to LAs and missed it.

Dan, the reliability you've experienced with your Tahoe isn't out of the norm. It also isn't out of the norm for them to require repairs.

General repairs for GM trucks do not include transmissions. It's usually the fuel pump and/or sender, hub bearings, gauge clusters and blower motor resistors.

Once in a while, people are now having to have LS engines replaced because of sludge build-up in the heads and oil pan. That stems from improper maintenance, but it's a nasty result of less-than-neglectful practices. It doesn't take much outside of 4K service intervals to build up that sludge. Synthetic blends at the very least are a good way to stave that off.

Pretty sure if I ever buy another car, it will be a GM. I know what's going on with them, how to work on them and familiarity goes a long way for me.

Can't say from personal experience. We didn't have a lot of interior issues at the 2 dealers I've worked for.

The only broken door panels I ever saw on newer models were from my removing them.

I dis agree with you Josh. We make far less repairs on toy's & Honda's than on Gm's. Granted they cost a bit more when the need it, but I would rather have a car you can gas up & go anywhere than own one that I am gonna wonder if I make it there.

I rarely saw a Honda/Toyota/Nissan in our little shop. Worked on a ton of domestic stuff though.

My 02 Avalanche has 230k on it, and I have only done normal maintenance to it. Had to replace an alternator last week, but that was because a loose battery connection overworked it and killed it.

If so it is no different than driving on the road Kimmer, just skinny lanes, I just took my truck and trailer across it two weekends ago. Just be thankful you aren't driving a semi.

We were going to go to that event but are camping instead, keep an eye out for a huge red RCLB 03ish chevy body on tractors, has a pro charged 572 and yellow ECSB 90's body style with tractors, has a naturally aspirated 572. Both local guys the kid worked at my shop and his dad own Big Shocks.com

Working in primarily GM shops, I've seen it all come and go. There are many repairs out of what I mentioned earlier, those are just the typical issues. And I was concentrating on the GMT 800 line, which is where Dan's Tahoe falls.

To be totally honest, I would say the vehicle I saw the least amount of issues with was the Pontiac Vibe or Chevy Aveo. I know the Vibe is essentially a Toyota Matrix. Had a recall for the driver's floor pad needing trimmed to keep the throttle from sticking like those Toyotas did...

The Aveo... It's totally GM owned. Never saw problems with them, but when your dealer has only sold like 2 of them... it keeps probability down.
