Patch panel currently abour 30% welded in. Only burned through a couple small holes in a few places, but no bad... I'll finish welding and grinding it tonight and maybe even get a layer of primer down... Hard part is the end by the bumper, Really don't want to take that apart/off again...

I really need to get a copper welding spoon before I do stuff like that again... I have been making do with random stuff from around the shop. You got one already or just playing the "hope I get lucky/good" game?

Totally playing the luck/skill game... I'm actually just spot welding every inch or so, then going back and spot welding next to it, so on... I have a couple small holes about 1-2mm in dia that I will need to fill in, so I guess I'm 'lcuky' thus far...

Was thinking once I spot weld all the way around, I might grind it down some and then do an actual bead? But so far, just the spot welds have this thing pretty solid...

what are your thoughts on carpet in the jeep?

i am planning on putting the interior together on the unicorn tomorrow night, and i was originally planning on putting the carpet back in and having a nice stock look. for some reason i started second guessing that idea today.

pros and cons? this will be wheeled and driven around town. not a DD but a weekend toy.

heat, sound, slippery went wet, looks, etc.

I dont have carpet in my dd. alittle loud, trans tunnel gets warm in summer, but thats about it. I'd rather have bare floors than a bunch of rust.

Drivers side front pads were sticking...had to redo the clips...screwed them up on the install a couple weeks ago...

Good luck Mac! Better to catch it and fix now then 100miles down the road when the wheel catches fire!

Hopefully it was just an easy fix and you are rollin coal again by now. Carry on and safe travels.

-8 this morning and the ol PSD is still chuggin around...tranny is not necessarily liking the cold temps at first, but after a few hours of choring it is all good. Have seen a few gelled up rigs on the side of the road...you would think that a diesel owner/operator would know better but one was a SWIFT truck and another was a CR England rig....

Tyler, the truck stop in town does *NOT* get treated fuel like the other stations. Twice I've had filters wax over after filling up there and that's even with a full bottle of anti-gel (claims additional 20 degrees of protection) in the tank. It's not fun changing a fuel filter at 10 degrees F. The second one came up almost solid. I stopped buying fuel there, I can't afford the couple of cents a gallon savings.

Rough morning... I was headed into work and the D35 decided to crap the bed and lock up at 60mph. The back tried to pass the front but I managed to get it straightened out with only a couple black marks on the pavement to show for it. Had a coworker pick me up and went to get the Duramax, which unfortunately has a failed glow plug controller so it took about 12 tries to get it started. But at least the Jeep's back at home and no people or vehicles got hurt in the process, had there been traffic around me it could have been a lot worse.

Yesterday Sarah and I drove to Evansville, I told her we were volunteering for a concert for my friends band. What she didn't know it was all a plan to ask her to marry me. She said yes. On the way home around midnight central, 41 through Gibson and part of southern Knox county was a mess. 30-40 mph was the fastest I felt going safely. Seen about 20 cars spun out on the side of the road. Her Roque did good though.

The major prob with the long haul guys is they fill up farther south, than come up my ways & gel up real guick. I used to make alot of $$ thawing them out & changing fuel filters after they got towed in. The best part is, just let them sit in the shop with the nipko's on for a few hours, you could work on other trucks at the same time.

Youre welcome. Lol

Ill work on one later.

This isn't normal, but for Dana it is

Dana 35: Not even once.

Woke up this morning, both of T's kids nearly missed the bus. Not a big deal on most days but I had to be in Lansing for my DOT physical by 9:30. Low fuel light came on about 40 miles north of Lansing but I chances it into town. 14.23 gallons in a 14 gallon tank. Turned my head and coughed, all good other than the overly touchy she doctor. (old and fat). Got to work 1 1/2 hours early, clocked in and did some training. Now ready to leave out to Flint.

Thank God its Friday!

I've done some pretty ridiculous speeds on a d35 in my MJ, but decided the right thing to do was swap in an 8.25 while I was doing the lift and 4x4/5speed swap since driveshaft angles and lengths had to change anyways. Pretty glad I made that decision.

There is still one under my blue MJ, but I've got my eye on a 14 bolt to replace it, because I don't think it's going to stand up to a retard on the throttle with a 5.9/5speed in front of it. Need to find some stock replacement leafs for it too because the stock ones are CFed.
