Important

I have a question for all of you. If you had no friends or family members involved w/ 9/11. How did it REALLY change your life living in the midwest? I don't want to seem insensitive, but alot of the people made 6 figure a year & chose to work on the 80th floor of one of the biggest targets in U.S.(that had all ready been bombed). I am sorry so many people died, but to me it's like any other stuff you read in the news. If it didn't effect my friends or family, who gives chit. Again, if I offend someone, it;s cause you have never met me in person.

truck guys...need some opinions

i have 8 bolt axles for the truck im building...what size rim would be best to have. i currently have 16x8 cragar soft 8's that are 8 bolt...but i RARELY see used 16" tires (looking for 285 75 16)...i do see a lot of 17 and 18 inch tires of the same size for sale on clist. im would love to buy new when the time comes, but i can also see myself finding a good used set of tires. seems like guys are always dumping tires to upgrade to a more aggressive or bigger tires for their trucks here...

would i be better off with a different size rim? i know new tires of the 16" variety would probably be the cheapest. i've tried to find 8 bolt 15", but they are not easy to find :( then i could just interchange the 33's with my xj since that is what my next set will be.

around half of me is inseam and I fit just fine. Almost racecar like.

treadwright makes a lot of 16s, I have their BFG AT knockoff on BFG AT carcasses, most people don't even realize they're recaps. 285/75r16s cost me 550 shipped for 4 a few years ago, they have gone up some since then but are still nowhere near what you'd pay for new BFGs.

Stick to 16s or 17s imo, also make sure a 15 will even fit over the brakes on your axles before spending money on them.

17s fit nicely over the brakes. I can't run a 15 inch rim without a bunch of grinding on the calipers.

I would stay away from 16.5 stuff.

So I guess the police officers and fire fighters that died were there by choice too making big bucks?

I'll tell you what I've seen in the midwest and all over. The federal govt has spent a ton of money on homeland security. Whether it has really made a difference I don't know, but there are a lot of cool toys out there.

I was hung over on Sept 11th. Woke up to what I thought was a new Die Hard movie. I filled up my Jeep that day for $1.67 a gallon.

I was not reffering to any of the first responders. I was talking bout the people that made 6 figures & choose to work in a high rise that had all ready been targeted. I have a sister-in-law that worked in the Sears tower, in Chicago. I never understood why. I prefer to have my feet on the ground, not 40,50, 60 flights up.

The towers falling didnt have an effect on my life but the aftermath sure as hell did. Higher gas prices, longer lines at the airport...things like that.

I'm not totally complaining about all of it. We had got pretty complacent in this country. It's just too bad it took so many deaths to open our eyes. On top of that it's too bad the politicos had to use it to push through so many other things we didn't need.

exactly

Just gave them a reason to keep sending more troops over their(and kids loosing their lives for what)? Look guys, I spent 9 yrs in the Army & we have troops in so many foriegn countries that we don't need be there. South Korea, west Germany, Turkey.

I always wonder if Clinton would've done something in 1993 when it was bombed the first time if things would've been different...

But per a lot of people he was the best president ever so what do I know...

I couldn't agree more... the terrorists have won, we have spent trillions on wars and the TSA is slowly taking away one freedom after another. Should have blown up bin laden and his crew and then gone home.

On another subject entirely...

16s and 16.5s come stock on a lot of 8 lug dodge/ford trucks, so I would bet you can run 16s no problem on a chevy 60 too.

you REALLY don't want to get into 16.5's, they are really getting phased out & if you get a flat out in the middle of nowhere, your not gonna find one in a pinch. Kinda like looking for a 13 inch tire, no makes them anymore.

Oh hell, look what I started.......

I was in the Milwaukee Childrens hospital when the shit hit the fans, well hit the towers at least. I had just walked into the ICU and all of a sudden they dimmed the lights and told everyone to stay in their rooms and don't try to leave as all exits and entrances were closed and locked.
That is when I walked into my daughters ICU room and her nurse Mark had the news on and I got to watch the second plane hit. I got goosebumps and just sat there in shock.
We were not allowed to leave the hospital till later that night when they had finished a search of the building and surrounding areas to make sure the hospital was not in danger. What a day I will NEVER forget.

I was getting ready to go to work in Salt Lake City. Working for the same company I do now. My daughter was less than a month from being born. I was denied reenlistment from the Air Force just under 2 years prior due to injuries.

I remember being extremely pissed and was hoping the military would activate my 4 years inactive reserve. After seeing the planes hit a second time. I also remember trying to get a hold of 4 family members at the Pentagon. Next to impossible. The next day I never seen the skies so blue being all the planes were grounded. I stopped at a recruiters and was told that my medical discharge would not allow me to reenlist.

But , I ask again? Everyone knows where they were & what they were doing. But, did it or does it directly effect you right now? I still have to go to work today. I still have to provide for my family. I'm still gonna have a few beers after work. No sweat off my sack.

I would say it affects me mentally and physically. Security at most bigger places, like the hospital, has gotten tighter, prices on things have been affected by that day. But for me, the memory of what happened that day, what those ****ers thought they could take from us, hits me the hardest. It affected me that day as they had control over us somewhat, as in the hospital NOBODY was allowed to go ANYWHERE for hours. They took my freedom for a few hours, and I DON'T LIKE THAT!!!!!!

I understand totally where you are coming from though. It affected my memory as I will NEVER FORGET.

I would say that if you had family members working in the Pentagon, than yes, It did have an effect on your life. But for the other 90% of us regular folks, nope, sorry.

I guess this comes out cause I'm really getting sick of my facebook getting clogged up about this chit. People, we know what fricking day it is. So stop posting all your photochoped pics of the towers & go to fricking work.
