What subject?

Just finished up dinner of grilled steaks & scratch hashbrowns, with a nice breakfast stout on the side.

Had a big mexican dinner.
Couldn't even make it out before the "urge" hit.
At lest they have a can of Glade on top of the TP holder.

the jumbo fajitas with chorizo get me every time...im always amazed how much comes back out in the first round...

tmi?

Picked up a $20 RC Crawler at Wally world for the boy and I. Things addicting I played with it foelike 2 hours. Anybody into rc's. Looked into some quality ones online. Can get a axial scorpion for like 300 used.

Had to cut the flairs after this pic because the tires kept grabbing them.

I have a small air force of helicopters and planes, but no cars.

We had homemade quesadillas tonight. Meganne did the steak and chicken up right!

I've always had an interest in R/C avionics. As I understand the investment is considerable and the initial learning process makes it even more expensive. Thus my hesitance.

another problem is a lot of beginners end up trying to fly at the edges of the air, also. This can be very hard on an airframe compared to flying in the middle of the air, as the edges of the air contain things such as the ground, trees, power lines, buildings, oceans, rivers, interstellar space, etc. Staying in the middle of the air is recommended but not easy especially when you're on the ground instead of inside the aircraft...

Josh, the way to get started in R/C avionics with with a PC simulator. Crash as many times as you need or want, and don't have to rebuild the craft. No doubt that even with economy kits you're still looking at a few hundred bucks.

That sounds like an efficient way to go about it. I know there are joysticks for PC sims, but the RC controllers aren't joysticks. Do the games have a controlling format similar to the actual radios?

IIRC, you can get "dummy" radios that interface with the simulator. Shoot, the newer radios might also have a USB interface. I've got an ARF plane out in the garage that hasn't been up in the air for better than 7 years, with an 8 channel Futaba radio. I really haven't looked at R/C stuff since well before I moved to MN.

A couple of years ago, I found the local R/C field, about 20 miles up the road. The day I stopped in, there was a biplane with a 8' wingspan running a converted 2stroke, as well as a microturbine jet. The planes were big enough to spot from a couple of miles away.

I'm thinking I may purchase a higher end RC Crawler. I think the planes are awesome! There is a old out if service airport behind our shop. Couple times a summer well see them out there flying. There is some HUGE planes. The jet ones are the best to watch.

Axial makes a good truck.

There's an RC/Hobby store just south of the gun shop that does all my smithing. When I go up to pick up my bolt and pistol, I will stop in there to check out what they've got going on. They had a dirt track set up this weekend that looked wicked cool. If I weren't on a schedule, I would have stopped just to watch.

I'm sure the owners or folks in there will have a good knowledge of how to get started. It doesn't cost to ask. Though I need another hobby like I need a hole in the head.

Went wheeling today. Love the full hydro, it worked great, I need to get and move a fitting that hit my drag link. Other than that I destroyed another lock out. Mile marker hubs suck.

Wheeling sounds fun. I should do that. Don't think it's too feasible though. Kinda needed here for a while. Meganne's mom had surgery on her rotator cuff and now Meganne is picking up her slack, so I am picking up more slack for Meganne. Its a vicious cycle.

I'm with you on the hobby thing.

Thanks for the returned text :flipoff:

Did you find anyone to go with you?

I did R/C cars for a short time. Had a 4wd car. It was fun if I was the only one on the track (I was pretty bad at driving it). Of course this was on a carpet oval. The R/C shop also has a dirt track also. I got out of it in college. I paid 125 for my car and probably close to 300 all together with the parts I broke. I know the dirt trucks are a bit more expensive. At one point, I wanted to pick up a sprint car bodies r/c car but never did.

Sounds exhilarating. I drove X-Mods in my kitchen for about 2 months. Of course that was on linoleum.

Yes. Look into "Real Flight" comes with a radio looking/feeling interface that is USB .

The biggest problem folks face with RC is biting off more than they can chew. A GWS Slow stick is an inexpensive start and is durable. The plane can later be modified for ailerons for a cheap 4 channel trainer.

Yes. You can easily dump tons of money on models...
Or you can learn the basics and build on that. I saw a plane made of plastic corrugated sign material, and it was awesome.

I fly electrics. Need to get into it again, stopped because of Jeeps.

Somehow I just knew that you'd have experience with this when I saw you were in the thread.

Thanks for the info, Googling now.

Edit: About a hundo to get into the basic simulator. Not too bad I guess...for insurance that you're not going to totally trash your first plane.

Edit 2: And the GWS is under $40 and almost designed to be crashed by newbs. Sounds good.

I walk farther in the parking lot. At least I have my own parking spot.

my own parking spot is in my driveway...
