Important

About a month ago a local truck accessory store needed a service manager. I applied for the position and had what I thought was a good interview. This place is about a 30 min drive from my house so that was less than desirable but very doable for the just for the kid in the candy store factor. I dropped in a week or so after the interview and the manager didn't say I didn't get it but I read it that way.

Today I'm working away and my phone rings. It's the manager for the places smaller store that is less than 3 mins away from my house. I have an interview on Monday. If I got this position I could sell both my econoboxes for jeep money and go back to driving the jeep everyday. I miss the power of my jeep compared to my neon or corrolla.

My wife lost her job back in January. The only thing she could find was part time minimum wage gig for another company while she waited for a spot in their 'management training' program. Now... almost 5 months later, she was still part time. So she started applying other places and looking at doing something totally different. Its been a really frustrating situation.

She got in trouble last week for treating her customers too nice...
This week out of the blue they call and offer her a management job at a different store.

Idk, man. You sound like to much of a rebel to hang around the fire with us. I think I would have been holding back the hershey if a cop gave me a warning...:shiver:

Yea, we cant have any bad boys like this around our fire. disturbing the smore making and group singing.

Do we want to take bets on what kind of fuel mileage I am going to get?

I think I'm going to miss my 01 2500 CTD in this situation.

Towing my 16 ft gooseneck with my XJ on one-tons 6 hours up to Michigan with my 2011 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi lol

I going to say 8 mpg, and that's pushing it.

You guys with 'ecnoboxes' to drive every day, how does that work out?
I am kicking around the idea of a $2000.00 Ranger to drive daily and only use the ftwofiddy when I need to pull a trailer.
Does the extra insurance and the $100.00 license off set it the savings?
I get around 18 mpg daily with the ftwofiddy.
What would I be saving besides wear and tear on a truck it would cost >$25,000 to replace?

Rangers are not the best on fuel, if you pussy foot it you might get 20mpgs around town.

Heidi starts phlebotomy school as soon as we get back from the Cherokee crawl. I'm excited for her. My dad is one of the higher ups in the laboratory for Ohio health and my aunt/god mother just retired as head of the laboratory so she should Heidi should be a shoe in for a great career. Soooooo maybe a four door cummins dually 4x4 tow rig in the next year or so. :D

i would say it truly depends on the car. i have had a couple of dd cars in the last 3 years and i have not had good luck. 1st it needs to get damn good gas mileage to offset its price. i had a caddy and a Monte the caddy was pulling in like 32 on the eway and Monte around 26. the problem that i had was they were both piles of crap, nice cars but something was wrong every damn month. so i was paying a monthly bill(had loans) plus mechanical problems, plus gas, and plus insurance, turned out costing more a month than just driving my jeep.

so if you were to get a trustworthy car for a great price that got amazing gas mileage then its wroth it

good luck:D

And thats pushing it. you would be more of the range of 16 or 17mpg.

Do you know if there is wheeling during the day? or is the race during the day?

me and samset have been talking about going to the cliffs sometime...

I just talked with Steve from the Cliffs. He told me that there would probably not be wheeling on the day of the race. It would only happen if the races were shorter or there was only one race instead of two races. It would be a game time decision.

He did say that it is very dry there this year. The last four years he said have been the wettest weather ever. He said he's probably the only person that he knows that prays for a drought.

He also said that there would be camping in the pits at the park.

Sean, Deb's Honda Civic has been one of the best daily drivers I've seen. A 1999 model, hers has 170k on it, and finally got a new exhaust system last summer. 1 exhaust manifold, and now the radio, are the only non-scheduled maintenance on it. The last run to MI, we got 36mpg out of it. Then again, you aren't going to haul in a Civic what you can in a Ranger.

After changing the rear wheel bearings in my CTD, my fuel mileage has gone up 5%. Payback will be right close to 1 year.

Brendan, a friend of mine towed my CTD from MI back to MN last summer with a Dodge 1500 Hemi, at 60mph across da YooPee. I'll have to ask him what fuel mileage looked like.

I would be happy between 8 and 10 mpg. I will be running up I-69 to I-94, and will probably keep it between 65 and 70 mph

Driving once again within miles of my house without stopping...

My monte gets on average 27.5 mpg, not bad for a full size car.
