Important

Mac, kinda curious why that would cause misfires. Maybe rings just haven't seated yet? Either way that sucks, but kudos for admitting it.

When can we make fun of you for this? :eyes:

At least it came with a transfer case, right? :roflmao:

Low oil psi kept the tiny lil lifters collapsed. The rockers fell off causing valves to stay closed. Causing missfires. The video he posted on it runing sounded like it was poping back throught he intake. So im guessing the exhaust rockers were off. The combustion pressure poped backin into the intake when the intake valve opened.

What has me confused is the dealer said there was scores in the cylinder. Just dont know how that would have happened except for rebuilders error.
It happens Mac. Live and learn.

It went 9 miles and the exhaust rockers feel off again...

93 bucks later had it towed back to the engine shop...

When I told my mom she cried...

mac 'the most expensive motor ever' gyvr

I have not asked... but just HTF does an exhaust valve rocker arm fall off? Every valve rocker arm I've ever looked at slides down over a stud. A nut as well as another machined gizmo would have to go adrift for that arm to fall off. Or, are you saying that it's spinning on the stud, with the tips coming off the pushrods and valve stems? If that's the case, something has to be missing.

I just got up, and eating a grilled cheese. Ill be over to get the Civic after bit. Will probably bring Jimmy over and leave it as well if thats cool.

Had a naxja mwc worthy breakfest this morning in amsterdam. Bacon pancake anyone?

Unreal... Sounds like someone needs to shut them down.

No, we still don't have any snow up here... ;)

This is an overhead engine with a small hydraulic lifter in a bore. the rocker is a lil roller type with a pocket on it and a groove on the other. The pocket sits over the lifter an the groove over the valve tip. then the cam goes over the top of all the rockers. When pressures low the lifters collapse. Next thing you know theres money missing off your dresser and your daughters knocked up.

Oh, that's *NOT* good. More than 1 block? And tell me that nobody was injured.

Destroyed half a block. No injuries, the firefighters were under a no entry order from the beginning. The tenants of the apartments got out ok.

There was a huge mural on one of the walls that had to be torn down. Sad for sure.

Wj's?

What to look for with them? I'm scared of the v8 now. I know I don't want full time 4wd. We are paying off the bonnie with taxes then going to try and trade for one.

In my experience with one, the 4.0 is slow and gets crappy mileage (15mpg-ish). Like all Chryslers, the mileage computer won't even be close to accurate. The V8 is fast and gets crappy mileage (better or worse than the 4.0 depending on who you ask), and loves to start knocking. I know there are plenty who have had good experiences, but every cheap/repairable 4.7L vehicle I've seen for sale has had a rod knock. And yea, Quadradrive is great for what it is, but since you're used to having a selectable transfer case already you will probably want a selectable case in this one.

Blend doors in the HVAC are a frequent problem on the Limited models. I've seen quite a few complaints about rear wheel bearings wearing out and causing bent or worn axle shafts too. I drove one with a noticeable rear axle whine but I never looked into whether it was the gears or bearings.

Otherwise they are pretty decent vehicles, sizable interior, a little more polish than a ZJ, and very comfortable to drive. The poor mileage, combined with either 4.0's sluggishness or the 4.7's questionable reliability, has always been enough to keep me from buying one. Your mileage may vary (literally and figuratively).

^everything he said! My cousins lasted to 215k miles on a 4.7 then launched a valve through piston #1 in the bank parking lot.
